That song was bad ass. It was my go to, I'm-getting-tired-so-now-I-have-to-push-hard-to-break-through-to-my-second-wind exercise song for like 3 weeks, which was about 20 days longer than most songs lasted in that role.
Maybe if someone could translate it for me, I'd be better able to understand this stuff. Cuz after all, smoother than a fresh dry skippy.

It is a big favorite of ours in Spin class!!! That, and Tina Turner's Proud Mary ...AND Lady Gaga's Bad Romance!

It's saying what half of the songs ever written say: I'm hot, you're hot, lets get it on. If we think most songs are, in essence, saying more than that, then we're overthinking it.
On a slightly (and only slightly) more serious note... In this case, it's not as much about what the words are as what they sound like in relation to the rest of the music. Don't think of the vocals (in that song and in some others) as trying to tell a story, think of them as just another instrument meant to complement the rest of the instruments. At best, meaning wise, they're meant to conjure up vague notions - e.g., being cool, being rich, being sexy, being talented, partying. It's blurting out words that relate to general themes, not putting them all together to form more developed thoughts that might represent a story. But again, the main function the vocalization is serving is as another instrument - importantly, one that anyone listening can emulate, whether they have musical background and skill or not.

Have you heard Tina Turner's Live in Europe album? Particularly her doing Proud Mary live?
I'm not real big on live albums, but that one rocks.
I bop'in around just reading the lyrics running the tune in my head.

It's highly danceable.
In an American Bandstand sorta way. Highly danceable. As in, when I hear it, I automatically want to dance.
I have to admit that I have 'Bad Romance' on my iPhone.
I haven't. I will have to take a listen.
