The 'Greaseball Challenge' Kickoff

Friday March 30, 2007
7:00 AM - Press Conference/Breakfast
8:30 AM - Drivers Fuel their Vehicles
9:00 AM - Vehicles Depart

Rev up your engines and roll into Hard Rock Cafe Washington, D.C. with 94.7 The Globe as we kick off the first-ever “Greaseball Challenge, a cross-continental, biofuel car rally for charity, which aims to promote fuel alternatives. The event will include a rockin’ breakfast with several Greaseball drivers, including Washington, D.C. locals, Emily Horgan and Suzanne Hunt, as well as drivers from across the globe.

After breakfast, drivers will make their way to the Greaseball vehicles to fill up with waste grease, including vegetable oil, courtesy of Hard Rock Cafe Washington, D.C.

Proceeds from the event will benefit projects supported by the “Greaseball Challenge, which helps local entrepreneurs, community cooperatives and grassroots organizations in developing countries to access the capital expenditure and technical necessary to implement sustainable small-scale biofuel projects.

“Greaseball Challenge 2007 will end in Costa Rica, stopping at the Hard Rock Cafes in Nashville, Memphis and Mexico City along the way to reload on waste grease.

Super Genius
Biodiesel is an interesting alternative with much lower emissions and requires very little to convert from regular diesel, but the problem is that there is not enough agriculture to support the demand. But it might be able to be used at the same time as other alternative fuels to meet overall demand. I.e. the fuel pump has biodiesel, ethanol, and hydrogen instead of regular, mid-grade, and high-octane.
