I remember reading several stories from emergency personnel printed in magazines about the freeway rescues and recoveries.

It was. I remember it all pretty vividly.

I remember you saying you were there.

I was living in San Diego North County at the time. I was only a few months clean and sober at the time, and pretty much everything else was overshadowed by my first major accident about a month and a half later. Ended up in the hospital for a 2 weeks, and recovering at a friend's house in Carlsbad, for 2 more weeks. Nothing like being clean and sober, only to be doped up for a month.
