The high price of "free to good home"

On April 6th, the story about Jeffrey Nally, Jr. was published here. Nally had been charged with 29 counts of animal cruelty because of the number of dead animals found on his property. He had gotten all of the animals, mostly puppies and kittens, from the "free to good home" listings on Craigslist. He then used every kind of tool imaginable to torture, mutilate, and then murder these helpless animals.

These articles are not for the faint of heart... but they are the reality. It makes me sick that this guy in WV only has to serve 5 years and could be released for beating and killing 29 animals he got off of Craigslist. There is a special kind of sick in a human being that would seek animals to torture and kill. He should just be shot in the face and we as a society be done with him. :boo:

I have posted that article three times on craigslist in the pet section so that people would see that it is not the best thing to do by offering their pet for free and I have been flagged each time and have received numerous not very nice emails. I only received ONE thank you email.....they rest were obnoxious.

I can only imagine what the article about this Slime Ball said. I can't read things like that, because it depresses me. With that being said, he'll probably only spend a few months, if that, in Jail. Then, he'll be out there torturing Human Beings!

It was a good thing you didn't view the pictures... I had a nightmare last night that I think was triggered from viewing those pictures. I think what bothered me the most was that somebody may see one of the pets they gave away in that condition. That would have to be shattering.

That article as bothered me since I read it.
I was dumb and looked at the pictures also. It broke my heart imagining the poor animals going through this. I so wanted to post this on an animal board on FB. I have noticed all of the same collectors on those pages, iso free dogs or very cheap. I have had suspicions they are taking some to supplement their income. So sad!

Oh how I wish we could... seriously...

click click bang...

Like Roman said.... He'll be out torturing human beings after he serves this sentence since I do believe torturing animals is just a precursor to what his true desires are...

I will never look at the words "free to a good home" the same way... I will always wonder who will end up having that animal.

I agree...torturing begins small and ends up big.

Here is another interesting tidbit......

Craigslist is the most dangerous place you can advertise a dog, or any animal for that matter, especially a free one. I'm not sure if you are familiar with what a bait dog is, so I will give you a quick explanation. People who run dog fighting rings use what are called bait dogs, which are basically punching bags for fighting dogs. As we all know, dogs don't punch; they bite, rip and tear. They are used to teach dogs how to kill, to acquire a taste for blood and to excite a game dog right before it is put into a fight. These evil people tie the bait dog up, so it can't get away. Then they either tape it's mouth shut with duct tape or break it's teeth out, so that it can't fight back. Then they unleash anywhere from one to four dogs on it and let them have at it, usually until it's dead. There are a small percentage of them who survive this, but they are badly maimed and clinging to life. If you want to know more about this, there is book called "Oogy", which is a story about a bait dog who survived. When you see his picture, you will wonder how he ever did survive. Now, what I am getting at is this, Craigslist is the primary place online that these kind of people look for bait dogs. And they are very sneaky. The will come to you acting like they are just looking for a pet, and they may even bring a child with them to sell it even more. They are evil and will do whatever they have to in order to get dogs. They prefer non aggressive Pit Bulls, because their bodies are more similar to what they will be fighting, and will last longer being tortured. But, they will also take about any dog they can get for free or little money. They go through a lot of bait dogs, so they are always looking for more. They use Craigslist because they know they can find dogs there who are listed as "free to good home" or for a very nominal price

Just a side note, if you think this doesn't happen in St. Mary's County, you would be wrong. It was either last year or the year before, many charity organizations had to stop a neighborhood cleanup project because dog carcasses were found in the wooded area. The entire wooded area was used for dog fighting and from my understanding; no charges were ever filed on any suspects. Perhaps somebody with more knowledge on the incident can or will comment as I don’t know all the facts other than there has been evidence found that proves it does happen in St. Mary's County.

About 15 years ago there was a rash of rottie puppy stealing to accomodate "training" for their dogs. I guarded my rottie more than any other dog I have had throughout the years. I was warned about that even back then. People are so effing sick.

There are tons of dogs being stolen out of fenced yards now too. People will stop at almost nothing these days!

Happened in Calvert too. Years ago, down off Adalena Rd...dog fighting along with drug sales...
They cleaned up the drugs and the dog fights "went away" (aka: moved)

I dont recall a lot of arrests of folks going to court...
