The Iinauguration

You're in rare form today Larry.
I'm excited. He walked out there and fired both barrels. I am impressed he did not back off, at all, from his campaign arguments.

"Things have been sucking and it stops now." Unapologetic. Direct. Clear. I am sincerely impressed. Except for the excessive non secular part.

Now we'll see.

Well, I hope you're right and this was just all for show.
The country is a largely secular country. If this government (which isn't just Trump) tries to destroy the establishment clause of the 1st the country will do what they did in this last election... reject it. I, as a Christian, will reject it... even if it's Christianity.

It had to make the entire establishment uncomfortable. He put them all (dem and rep) on notice. And I don't think Obama and his pals applauded but maybe once or twice. He had a really smug look on his face.
Exactly. "Hey, boys. The BOSS is here. Now, sit down, shut up and take notes. You WILL see this material again. Like this afternoon."

Well the speech was kinda bad, but Trump has never claimed to be an Orator.
I thought it was a great speech. One of the best I've ever heard, as a matter of fact.

If you want an orator, go get one. I want a leader.

Ah, good. You now know how I FEEL. So nice! I can just ask you how I feel at any given time. :tap:

Again, I hope you're right and this was just for show. He has shown he knows his customers or he wouldn't be there.
Please do.

I think we can read your words and see that you're quite bothered by the whole religious aspect of the inauguration. Trump is not a deeply religious guy. I'm thinking any sort of religious part of him is way low on the list of affecting his decision-making. I would worry more about him putting black people in concentration camps.

I have nothing against Trump I voted for the guy, but he is a bad speaker. He would have doubled his votes if he could speak well. He cannot, I don't hold that against him I like what he says , he just isn't an artist in saying it.

We just got rid of a guy who gave good speech. Otherwise he wasn't worth a good bowel movement.

Larry I have enjoyed wtahcing you pull people's chains this morning. Don't pull mine, I have been here too long.
Dude, I'VE been here a long time. You are THE go to guy for missing the point. Trump's speech kicked ass. The excessive revival crap was bothersome from a Constitutional standpoint. That you can't keep competing ideas in your head and see the larger point is YOUR problem, not mine.

Except Biden. The audience clapped, he clapped. Would have loved to know what he was thinking.

It doesn't bother me, at all. Maybe this is a tough concept but one can observe something they see as wrong or inappropriate without needing a hug. Trump did well. Very well. He was focused, on hos message and kicked ass AND was dignified and respectful of Obama and everyone else. My ONE beef is the revival crap. We're making America Great Again. Not Jesus H. Christ. That's personal and private.

America ain't.

His speech delivery sucked and you know it.
Got nothing against the message.

Well, don't let it. Instead, try and think. Do this "Can I like a speech and an inauguration and also ALSO be annoyed at the excessively non secular aspects of a expressly secular ceremony? " Let us know how it goes. :buddies:

YOU can do anything you like. If you didn't like the secular parts , that's cool with me.
But we all know the religious aspect was a direct shot at the Muslim who just left, and his speech about this no longer being a Christian country.
Trump just took a shot at that.
