"Garden-variety cultural sexism lays the foundations for extreme violence against women, according to a study published this month in the journal Psychology of Violence. Which means that in educating teens and college students about consensual sex, ideas about women as “gatekeepers” and men as captives to their high libidos need to be the first notion to go.

Researchers at Georgia State University drew these conclusions from analyzing a 2012 Reddit thread. In July of that year, a poster commented, “Reddit’s had a few threads about sexual assault victims, but are there any redditors from the other side of the story? What were your motivations? Do you regret it?”

The Georgia State academics saw the anonymous confessions that followed as a rare chance to study “the interpretive lens perpetrators use to justify their actions.” They found that the stories perpetrators tell themselves blend shocking violence with familiar “sexual scripts,” such as the expectation that men will initiate sex and women will demur.".....>

The "annual butt rape" woman, I will suggest that by staying married to this guy, she is indeed consenting on some level.

I dislike these conversations about "rape". While the honest comments by guys who are clearly psychopaths are interesting (although pretty much what you'd expect anyway), I don't think women who make extremely poor choices are necessarily "victims" unless you count them victimizing themselves. We ALL - all of us women, every single one of us - know not to get hammered into a catatonic state around people you don't know and can't trust. When women do it anyway, they are victimizing themselves. We know - every single one of us - that we should dump the douche guy who doesn't respect us and treats us like crap. When we don't, we are consenting to that treatment.

What would be more interesting is to analyze the women who continue in relationships with men who treat them badly and abuse them. Clearly the abuser is a psycho, but what about the "victim" who continues to allow the abuse? Shouldn't her mental problems be addressed? He's just a rabid animal; at least she can get some help and learn to make better choices.
