Our area is overflowing with Military, Defense, Goverment types! It seems like there is an acronym for everthing. I think this would be a good thread to share some of them! Who's got the longest acronym?

One thing I always wondered about was why is the acronym for Electrocardiogram, EKG?

When I was a med tech, we called it ECG also (interchangeably with EKG), I had to administer the tests and if I recall correctly, it was to get a print out to see how the electrical waves travelled from one part of the heart to the next

Not really a medical folk, was once upon a time an EMT, and as stated above the answer is that ECG and EKG are interchangable. EKG comes from the German variation of the term 'Elektrokardiogramm'.

And NAVSEA aligns perfectly with NAVAIR in the Navy's way of naming things.

Well, duh... because EGG is an egg. You can't have doctors telling people, "Well, we'll use an egg to see what's wrong..."
