This press release is designed to inform the public of our commitment to ensuring safety and enforcing the laws in Maryland.
Our message this week is use your headlights in inclement weather. We strongly urge everyone to be responsible and turn on your headlights in any kind of inclement weather. As stated in Maryland vehicle law 22-201.2 use of headlights when windshield wipers are operated; when required – notwithstanding any other provision of this subtitle, if a driver of a vehicle on a highway operates the vehicle’s windshield wipers for a continuous period of time because of impaired visibility resulting from unfavorable atmospheric conditions, the driver shall light the vehicle’s headlamps. This violation carry’s a fine of $50.00. More importantly, it makes the vehicle you are driving more visible to other drivers which will prevent a collision. Please use your headlights in all inclement weather conditions. Our family’s lives depend on it.
