‘Star Trek’ Actor Robert Picardo: ‘Let’s Cancel Presidents’ Day’ Since Trump Has Canceled ‘Our Justice System’

Picardo issued his decree on the social media platform Blue Sky.

“Being that papers straws, The Gulf of Mexico and our justice system have been recently cancelled, let’s cancel Presidents’ Day,” he said.

The celebration of Presidents Day has actually become a contentious issue on both the left and the right in recent years, with the former believing it forces America to celebrate notoriously bad presidents like Andrew Johnson and the latter believing the day should honor George Washington or Abraham Lincoln.

MSNBC Guest Calls on U.S. to Cancel Presidents’ Day — Argues Trump Is an Example of Why: ‘We’ve Had Some Real Duds’

Chervinsky, who is a presidential historian and executive director of the George Washington Presidential Library at Mount Vernon, appeared on Way Too Early to speak with Vitali on Monday to discuss the holiday, saying:

It is a little bit silly. I mean, we have had some real duds, so I’m not sure we really want to be celebrating all presidents. And the tradition actually comes from celebrating birthdays which is a celebration that we inherited from celebrating the king and I’m just not sure that that’s exactly what we want. I think instead, it makes a lot more sense to celebrate actions.
Let’s celebrate Washington returning his command and ensuring that there wasn’t a military dictatorship. Let’s celebrate Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation. Things that they actually had control over as opposed to their birthday.

After Vitali reasoned that many people had celebrated the holiday since learning about presidents in school, the academic doubled down:

I’m not sure that we necessarily want to celebrate the people. I think that we want to have a certain respect for the office, I totally get that. And some have done extraordinary things. But by celebrating all of them, I do think it causes us to think of the president as somehow other, when in reality they are a citizen just like everyone else.
Normalize the presidency, and then celebrate extraordinary service. So when someone does something above and beyond, and there have been amazing examples of that, let’s celebrate those moments.

The host countered that having covered three presidential campaigns she had noticed that personality and “star power” were “required” to win the nomination and election.

Good - cancel all renaming stuff after Democrats - no more schools named after Obama, no highway in Scranton after Biden.

No this is small change, petty reaction - can't do anything meaningful to halt Trump so you'll threaten to hold your breath until you die.

Sad.

Most of us are old enough to remember when we only celebrated Washington's birthday. Okay, I was 12 when it happened (1968), but still. That kind of thing sticks with a man.

While Trump records victory after victory, don't forget that we remain in an Information War with a hostile enemy in the form of the Democrat/Media Complex.

See the compilation of current headlines below about supposed backlash in recent Congressional town halls.

Obviously this is coordinated media messaging, and almost certainly the "disgruntled" "voters" in these articles are Democrat plants who speak for a small minority of Americans. Their diatribes were not only planted, but media coverage of those diatribes was carefully orchestrated and coordinated.

Most Americans are pleased with the DOGE cuts, but no way you would know this from the lies of the Democrat media and its so-called "journalism."
