The Mess in the Fair Field Parking Lot

Well, I went to the Fair on Sunday. What a mess in the field Parking lot. Ruts were so deep I thought my front end of the car would hit. Other parts of the field had a mud road that was deep with trails of ruts. I wonder if people got stuck. Probably so. I am not sure why they can't improve the field where they expect people to park each year. Packed gravel? God Forgive to put pavement down. Prices would certainly increase for the Fair if they did.

That would be a phenomenally stupid thing to do. Spend huge $$ to create a massive area of impermeable surface so it can be parked on three times a year.

Some years it rains and becomes a mess. Many others it does not. Just drive what I do and no worries....

I do kind of sympathize. I went over there, twice, with no intention of going in, but to drop off and pick up people. Each time, I came close to spinning my wheels in muck.

People have been parking there for decades with no issue. This weekend was the exception because of the storm. Not worth getting spooled up over.
Yep. Drove in there in 80 with a bunch of my friends piled in to my 66 Ford van.

it was an unholy mudhole. When it came time to leave, just set our beers down. Everybody gave a push while put the pedal to it. When it finally got moving everybody jumped in.

It's a good thing there is no longer a greased pig or greased pole competition at the fair - my god the complaints would be never ending! Personally I would like to see those events come back - now with legalized gambling AND weed, that would be a lot of fun!

That would get me attending again.

i’d throw the lawn chais and a cooler in my truck, and make sure the battery was charged on my iPhone. :lmao:

Parked at the Tech Center on Sunday. Gate was a little squishy, but had boots on. Cleaned them off in a puddle before I got in my car.
However, have to wash my rain coat - the Clydesdales decided to lick it for some strange reason. They are such handsome boys.

Yeah, that's true. But, what a mess! But, I figured it was a mess. So, I was prepared for it.

They are hardly ever provided water for some reason. If you Google it, you will see they require on average 30 "gallons" a day! They were lucky to get half a gallon, if that. On Sunday I saw two people that were walking around the Fair that felt sorry for them and found a bowl and gave each one some water. They must have been called "Horse Angels". No one else seemed to care. The horses clearly seemed desperate for water. So, it was a good thing there were some kind people around.
