Smithsonian Goes Full Marxist: Nuclear Family, Science, Christianity All Part of Oppressive 'Whiteness'

What does the whiteness infographic mean?

In the context of the Smithsonian page on “whiteness,” this infographic connects various aspects of Western culture — many of which make life concretely better for all involved — to an oppressive “whiteness.” This follows a Marxist interpretation of American history and involves a call to reject the evil “whiteness” in the name of empowering minorities and restoring “social justice.”

Marxism interprets history in terms of economic power. Modern cultural Marxism takes it one step further, viewing history as a cycle of oppression and liberation involving various minority groups such as black people, Asian Americans, and others. According to the Marxist narrative, white males have oppressed blacks, Asians, women, transgender people, and others, and the key goal of “social justice” is to dethrone the whites and empower the minorities.

The Smithsonian definition of “whiteness” reads like a particularly nasty caricature of the American right. Most of the cultural aspects identified as “white” have nothing to do with race. They touch on social conservatism, Western heritage, science, and capitalism while twisting most of these out of recognition. While the most cynical person may say that wealth is the same thing as worth, only a few psychopaths actually believe that.

Furthermore, the idea that Christianity being the norm is part of “whiteness” ignores the fact that black people are statistically more likely to believe the Christian gospel while white people are statistically more likely to reject the existence of God altogether. I myself belong to a Christian church that looked to Africa for leadership.

Perhaps the greatest weakness of the infographic is its complete historical illiteracy. While white supremacy has a long history in America, the definition of “white” has changed a great deal in the last hundred years. In the 1930s, no one would have considered an Irishman, an Italian, or a Greek person “white.” Yet the Irish, Italian, and Greek Americans who faced routine discrimination are not considered “people of color” but lumped in with the privileged “whites.”

Smithsonian Pushes Racist Material Claiming ‘White Culture’ Is ‘Nuclear Family,’ ‘Self-Reliance,’ Being ‘Polite’

Using various graphics, videos, and quotes from so-called race experts such as Toni Morrison, Robin DiAngelo, Bell Hooks, Michael Welp, and others, the website lays out why and how white people should address their own race.

“Since white people in America hold most of the political, institutional, and economic power, they receive advantages that nonwhite groups do not,” it reads.

The page, which is labeled “Talking about Race”, outlines its definitions for “white privilege”, “white racial identity,” “white supremacy,” and “white nationalism” while promoting a variety of resources on how to address “white fragility.”

Whiteness and white racialized identity refer to the way that white people, their customs, culture, and beliefs operate as the standard by which all other groups of are compared,” the website reads. “Whiteness is also at the core of understanding race in America. Whiteness and the normalization of white racial identity throughout America’s history have created a culture where nonwhite persons are seen as inferior or abnormal.”

“Whiteness (and its accepted normality) also exist as everyday microaggressions toward people of color. Acts of microaggressions include verbal, nonverbal, and environmental slights, snubs or insults toward nonwhites. Whether intentional or not, these attitudes communicate hostile, derogatory, or harmful messages,” the page adds.

I hope they aren't funded with tax dollars for this nonsense. I can't wait to see what they come up with for attributes of the Asian culture.

Better yet, do 1 on ghetto culture.

I guess my parents weren't white enough - my mom always worked and I didn't get my own room until I was in high school.
My parents didn't emphasize individualism - FAMILY was first.

This is some of the most ridiculous bull chit I have ever seen. The scientific method is "white"?

This IS racist - this all implies that other races don't do this.

African American History Museum Publishes Graphic Linking ‘Rational Linear Thinking,’ ‘Nuclear Family’ to White Culture

The graphic cites data from a 1990 paper by Judith H. Katz titled, “Some Aspects and Assumptions of White Culture in the United States.”

Since 2007, Katz has worked as an advisor for a nonprofit organization called Net Impact, which says it partners with some of the country’s most powerful companies, including ExxonMobil, 3M, McDonalds, the Coca-Cola Company, Starbucks, Microsoft, the Walt Disney Company, Bank of America, Monsanto, and Nestlé Waters North America.

The company also partners with the U.S. National Park Service, which the group listed as having contributed more than $100,000 to the organization during fiscal year 2013.

Net Impact focuses on promoting “equity and inclusion” and “working across sectors for a more just and sustainable world,” and runs chapters across the globe on university campuses, in cities, and in companies.

“We believe in the power of the business sector to drive social and environmental change, and we welcome a variety of companies to partner with us,” Net Impact says on its website.

Obscene federal ‘diversity training’ scam prospers — even under Trump

Last month, a private diversity-consulting firm conducted a training titled “Difficult Conversations About Race in Troubling Times” for several federal agencies. The training called on white employees at the Treasury Department, the Federal Reserve, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the National Credit Union Administration and the Office of the Comptroller to pledge “allyship [sic] amid the George Floyd Tragedy.”

According to a trove of whistleblower documents I’ve reviewed, the training begins with the premise that “virtually all white people contribute to racism” and hold narratives that “don’t support the dismantling of racist institutions.” Therefore, the trainers argue, white federal employees must “struggle to own their racism” and “invest in race-based growth.”

The trainers then ask “white managers” to create “safe spaces,” where black employees can explain “what it means to be black” and to be “seen in their pain.” White staffers are instructed to keep silent and to “sit in the discomfort” of their racism. If any conflicts arise, the trainers insist that whites “don’t get to decide when someone is being too emotional, too rash [or] too mean.” Whites are told they can’t protest if a person of color “responds to their oppression in a way [they] don’t like.”

Howard Ross, the consultant who created the training, has been a fixture in what might be called the diversity-industrial complex. Since 2006, he has billed the feds more than $5 million for trainings.

What a disgusting mess.

Smithsonian’s Anti-White Propaganda

Look at this stunning exhibition from the website of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture. This is from its web page about the menace of “Whiteness”. Aside from the anti-white stereotypes here, notice the inadvertently anti-black insanity: things like hard work, being on time, cause and effect, “rational thinking,” respect for authority, politeness — all these things, according to the museum, are manifestations of “whiteness.” Did David Duke write this stuff? It’s crazy! If a white man said that black people are lazy, can’t keep to a schedule, have no respect for authority, can’t think straight, are rude, etc. — he would be rightly criticized as racist.

But there it is, at the taxpayer-funded National Museum of African American History and Culture.

UPDATE: I can’t get over this. If you assume that everything these curators say below is true, then you can explain a great deal of the chronic problems within black America. What kind of neighborhood would you expect to have if most of the people in it devalued hard work, rejected the idea that they needed to be on time, refused to defer gratification, did not respect authority, sought out conflict, laughed at politeness, rejected the traditional family model, and so forth? You’d have communities that were beset by crime and generational poverty, without the cultural tools to overcome the chaos. There are plenty of white people in this country who live by similar rules — and they’re chronically poor too.

UPDATE.2: The black writer Thomas Chatterton Williams is really upset by this garbage. He writes in part:

I don’t know how many of you watch the Smithsonian channel(915 Comcast) but I like the America by Air shows. Small planes/ helicopters fly over states while the orator gives the history and facts about each.
The subliminal comments paint a jaded picture condemning Europeans, the presidents, politicians and capitalism in general.
the photography is good, but the dialogue.....

I once took a diversity course for about 20 minutes before walking out and I can testify that there is no open conversation about race at any of them. No “Difficult Conversations About Race in Troubling Times”
You hear their spiel and get no chance to speak in an open way. If you speak up you are beaten down.
Diversity training is BS
