Ever wondered if there was a coincidence or method to God's use of certain numbers throughout the Bible?

Here's one view of their use:

The Numbers in the Scriptures!

(Do they Carry any Spiritual Significance?) by Tony Warren

There are many Christians who think that when God put numbers in the Bible there was no spiritual significance to it, and neither should we apply any meaning to it other than the number itself. But even if we were to look at this issue superficially, we can readily see that there is some method and certain numerical symbology to the use of numbers in scripture. The consistency in their signification in certain situations testifies to this. There is most certainly a great Spiritual defining in the application of many of these numbers. We are often inclined to underestimate God and what He has planted within His Holy Word.........

Magic numbers...

Well, being almost all things are able to be expressed through mathematics it's easy to make that assumption. In reference to religion or things supernatural, I hold to my opinion that if you want to see something bad enough you will. :coffee:

Rings a bell. I heard a talk radio program a couple of Sundays ago where the number 23 was "all meaning" and could somehow be linked to the end of time which is to come. Seems to me that with clevar addition, subtraction, multiplication and division you can make just about any group of numbers to end up being 23...or anything else for that matter.

:yeahthat: Discovery had a documentary about this and scholars using the same techniques but on War and Peace rather than the Bible were able to do the same.

Only if you really, really want it to. Then you can make it add up, at least for you...heheh.

I can see where the number 6 might have some substance in the Bible; 6 days did the Lord labor to to create the heavens, the earth, the trees, man and etc., and on the 7th He rested.

Other than that, asfar as I can tell, it's up for grabs. People have been surmising for hundreds of centuries, if there was a significance to all the rest of the figures that seem to pop up up every now and then in the scriptures.

One of my friends from church e-mailed it to me, and I thought I'd share.

Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, sounds like a self-fulfilling prophecy. Supposedly, you can find all the nostradomas predictions in Moby Dick, but I wouldn't waste my time with such nonsense.
