The (over)exercise of power

Oh how ridiculous!!!

"A week ago, when President Bush met with Judge J. Harvie Wilkinson III to interview him for a potential Supreme Court nomination, the conversation turned to exercise. When asked by the president of the United States how often he exercised, Wilkinson impressively responded that he runs 3 1/2 miles a day. Bush urged him to adopt more cross-training. "He warned me of impending doom," Wilkinson told the New York Times.

Am I the only person who finds this disturbing? I don't mean the fact that Bush would vet his selection for the highest court in the land in part on something utterly trivial. That's expected. What I mean is the fact that Bush has an obsession with exercise that borders on the creepy."

The column was written by an extremely lazy, overweight, Bush hating liberal.
quote:"He warned me of impending doom," Wilkinson told the New York Times.
How is he trying to slant that broad statement?

What is ridiculous, the article or Bush wanting Americans to get off their fat butts?
What's ridiculous, IMO, is the hysterical tone and language in the column, like Bush is some screwball control freak who frowns on exercise dissidents.

I'm getting over hating these people - now I just laugh.

The closing sentence: "Unfortunately, most of us have more demanding jobs than he does." Apparently, that does not apply to anyone at the L.A. Times.

Next week's headline: "Karl Rove's Abnormally Frequent Toenail Clipping"

It is refreshing to have a President who is concerned about mind, body, and spirit.... as opposed to the guy before him who got his exercise via a "personal trainer" (aka White House Intern).

Coming up next.... "Condeleezza Rice wears sexy boots and short skirts!" Oh wait, that is old news....!

Super Genius
I thought this was a strange thing to point out:
In 2002, he initiated a national fitness campaign.
Ummm, many Presidents have had national fitness campaigns. I think Arnie was the spokesman for Bush Sr.'s campaign and I remember that there was one when I was in elemetary school. But yeah, that's a sign that W is into fitness too much :sarcasm:

I remember doing a helluva lot of sit-ups for Ronnie in the 80s. :otter:

I don't really see the point of this argument.

But that still doesn't make me a Republican! :patriot:
