I remember a guy who Biden was trying to run away from saying, "You work for me!" and Biden, all outraged at the very idea, replying, "I don't work for you, jack!" That seems to be the attitude among elected officials, again Democrats in particular:
"I don't work for you, jack!"

Bessent is being asked questions and avoiding the answers and being smug while collecting a pay check from the government (which you guys usually are very against). or is that only for low level employees?
That's been elevated to a communication art form by Dem arseclowns like Schiff and Crazy Maxy.

So I guess you have literally never watched one of these before? Usually the people being questioned answer "I can't recall" to everything that doesn't make them look good or is a gotcha question for a soundbite. At lease Bessent is being more honest in his refusal.
Democrats rarely actually ask questions at these things, they spend their time grandstanding and making accusations. Mad Max went crazy yesterday and she didn't ask Bessent any actual questions that weren't rhetorical and then she shouted over him and wouldn't let him answer. Whatsherface, the bald chick, asked questions like, "Why are you funding ICE??" and got all pissed when Bessent informed her that he had nothing to do with the federal budget.

In the real world a police officer arrested a crack head who swallowed enough fentanyl to kill an elephant. This officer held this dying man, and was later convicted of killing him. He was arrested and prosecuted in order to keep the black ghetto dwellers from destroying the city. He was innocent of course but it was cheaper to feed and house this white man than it was to pay the cost of rebuilding the city.
Just speaking of people imprisoned for crimes they did not commit.
