Our 15 year old was supposed to get his learners permit today.. needed proof of date of birth, citizenship and Social Security number. Had our tax return for for SSN, and passport, guess which one they wouldn't accept as proof of ANYthing??

That's right, the glorious state of MD and the incompetents that run the DMV they won't and don't accept US issued passports. WTF??

I am so tired of being treated like a friggin criminal everywhere we go..

But now, because his F*king parents, didn't bring the right Fckin documents, we're the bad people, we're now the enemy. He chose to commiserate with one of his friends and accidentally posted to group chat between his friend and his mom.. imagine how she feels now.

Worst part?? The learners permit wouldn't have changed his life a bit. He drives us around now, and has for a few years.. He backs up the RV when we go camping, he gets it out of the garage, gets it ready to go when we leave.. drives us around town, to Wal-Mart, and Petco.. and BJs.. and 1/2 way to SC... but what will change his life is his reaction, and pure spitefulness towards his mom.

Good on y'all for letting him drive with you in the vehicle from a young age.

Helping a friend out to get her 17 yr old his driving hours. I thought his inexperience was gonna kill us.

And to the MVA. :mad::duel::strangle::tantrum:spank:

But not surprising. They live to make our lives hard.

Its funny that the MVA site says they accept US issued Passports (minors need additional documentation to show parental relationship - they even mention tax return as a means).

Our thought is the more experience the better. I would rather him have YEARS of experience driving with us, than hours, before he drives by himself or with friends.

My dad let me do a lot of the starting/pulling the car around kind of stuff way before I was legal. Until I scraped a neighbor's fender... :ohwell: oops.

But the 'experience' thing brings up a story. My brother just got his first motorcycle in Arkansas. For a bike, there is no learner's permit. Not permitted to ride the highway on a bike (legally), even with a licensed co-rider, until you actually have a license. You have to practice on private property. The DMV road test? From a dead stop, accelerate towards a white line. Stop at the white line without hitting it. That's it. Done. If you are successful, you have a full access motorcycle endorsement.

My stepfather used to let my boys drive on the road every time they were out. I had no clue.

But it was good for them, both in experience and the trust between them.

Did you ask to speak to a supervisor?

Your son sounds very ungrateful and self centered. If it were me I would have a talk with him.. 1>You are to NEVER call us "F-ing" Anything. One day we're going to die.. and you will realize just how much we are here for you, and how much we provided for you. Besides that it's not good character to talk bad about people behind their backs, anyone.. especially your parents. I don't want you to have that horrible character trait and you shouldn't want to have that for yourself either. I know you were upset things didn't go your way, but you have to teach yourself to control yourself, your mind, and what you say, when youre upset. We all have to do that. People who control themselves when upset are more likely to win a situation and people who don't control themselves lose. Guess what, life is going to have a lot of times that don't go your way. Life is going to suck if you get upset instead of roll with the punches and keep a positive mental attitute and just work towards the solution. I expect you to be a good person with good character. You need to think about who you are and do better. If you want to be self centered and unappreciated, you can learn what it's like to not have all the things you take for granted and provide for yourself. Think about this situation and how you handled it. Think about it for a few days and then get back to me with an apology. If there is anything I'm goign to do in this world, it's make sure you grow up to be a nice and decent person. I'm here to love you, protect you and guide you. I'm hoping you turn out to be someone i'm proud of and not disappointed in. We live in a world where you better be careful to always make your most moral decisions.. Your speech should always reflect that.
Like I said, think about the situation for a few days and get back to me with your apology. That behavior is unacceptable. I love you.
