No job comes without some grunt work, but some occupations seem to have considerably less than their fair shares.

No, a website administrator is not one of them. :lmao:

IMO, most of those jobs - as a paid position - would NOT be fun for me. Now, as an exchange for perks, a reviewer would be a cool thing to get into. The film reviewing would be tricky as I simply like what I like. Restaurant and food reviewing, on the other hand, would be very cool! :yay:

Wine Taster
It's fun because: Employed by restaurants to recommend wines for their wine lists, wine tasters (also known as sommeliers or wine stewards) not only get to spend the day tasting the finest reds and whites around, but they can actually answer any question about their job with, "You know that movie Sideways?"
The not-so-fun side: It's not enough to have "likes to drink" or "can hold my liquor" on one's résumé. The job of a steward is to taste -- not actually drink -- wine; it requires extensive practice and training about making wine and judging its color, aroma, flavor and body.
The payoff: According to a 2005 starchefs.com survey of sommeliers, the average reported salary was $52,700.

I think there is a course taught in DC to become a sommelier. Even if it's just for personal use.. It sounds like a good idea... I think I could do this one.

Whitewater Rafting Guide
It's fun because:
With free river trips and endless kayaking opportunities, every day is like vacation, and you can leave the suit and tie or dress pumps at home.
The not-so-fun side: The rafting season ends in October, forcing many guides to find work during the fall and winter. Plus, the work can be strenuous, guides may be away from home for long periods of time and work hours are often unpredictable.
The payoff: According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, recreation workers earn an average of $16.47 an hour

This one sounds like the most fun... :yay: I love it outside.

Radio Disc Jockey
It's fun because: As an on-air deejay, you get paid to listen to music all day (which you pretty much do anyway) or spout your opinion to whomever that will listen (again... ). Plus, the prospect of interviewing celebrities on occasion means that only fate can stop you from meeting Beyoncé now.
The not-so-fun side: A modest income for most deejays means the need to supplement their radio station play with outside earnings. Furthermore, they tend to work unconventional hours, including nights and weekends.
The payoff: Salaries in broadcasting generally are relatively low, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (median hourly earnings for radio and television announcers in May 2004 were $10.64). Those who work for large stations in major markets tend to earn a little bit more.

I wonder what Moondog has to say about this. :lmao:

My aunt and uncle owned Blackwater Outdoor Adventures in WV for a long ass time and just sold a few years ago. Being a river guide kicks your ass, but it sure looks like fun. :lmao:

It's so hard to stay indoors when the waether is nice. When I was 19 I lived in the Poconos and spent two years hiking all over this big mountain.. I miss being a hippie. :ohwell:
I'm too old and out of shape to take on a job like that now.. but I'd still give it a shot.

I love wine. Since I gave up smoking( even though I have cheated, lol) the flavors in the wine have just popped out at me.. I was never a red drinker, but I had a merlot yesterday that I really found tingling to my tastebuds.
I have an idea for opening a wine bar if I ever hit the lottery;yay: I'll call it "The Dionysian Garden", or something relating to the wine god. I have a whole menu plan, I've already picked the decor. It would be a very classy, yet laid back environment..

Anyone interested in investing??

The Spainish are making some great wines these days...they are mostly known for their Reds, but they have recently begun to export a varietal known as Verdejo which is about the best white I've tasted, even better than Napa Chardonnay from home.

I have just started finding it in Virginia now, and it is become a favourite.

fttrsbeerwench - good on you for quitting smoking. I know it is tough, but worth it. :yay:
