"(CBS) They are the casualties of wars you don’t often hear about - soldiers who die of self-inflicted wounds. Little is known about the true scope of suicides among those who have served in the military.

But a five-month CBS News investigation discovered data that shows a startling rate of suicide, what some call a hidden “epidemic.” Chief Investigative Reporter Armen Keteyian has the exclusive report.:

What is surprising is that CNN suddenly gives a rat's a$$ about the our Military Forces. This has been an on-going problem for many many years and yet nobody saw fit to report it. However in this politically polarized country, the timing seems a little bit planned.

I served for over 20 years and suicide in the military has always been a problem. Whether it is because of the ravages of war and what that does to the human mind or the long deployments away from loved one and what the can do to the family.

The only way anything will be done about this is if the American People stand up and demand action be taken to fix the sources of the problem. The odds are however that American will not do a thing because most people (mainly those who have never served) could care less about the current and former members of the US military.
