Great movie!
A very dark comedy about the struggles we all face in our lives: relationships with our parents, our kids, death, love, divorce, etc. And it's about what we all thought life was going to be like when we grew up, and what the reality is today.
I think men especially will relate, especially if they've had relationship issues with their fathers, are very ambitious in a career they don't particularly love, or have gone through a divorce.
Certainly isn't uplifting, but it's a nice change from the typical Hollywood offering. And Nicolas Cage was excellent. Definitely one of his better if not best roles. He's had a lot of cruddy movies in the past, but this one is a great effort.
I have to agree with one review from Yahoo.com

Life, like the weather itself, does not always conform to a prediction or optimism. Sometimes life sucks and calls for a moment of self-evaluation so it can be determined what it takes for life to not suck. It could be a personal change that is needed or it could not be, as is the case with Cage’s character, but for life to be good, no matter what, it does require an understanding of who you are to yourself and to other people in order to be able to move on without a scratch. “The Weather Man” shows David Spritz’s flaws, shows David recognizing them, and then trying to improve upon them. The result, ultimately, is a failed one as he continues to live disappointedly, but he also does so with an awareness that life is able to disappoint.
