2 Kings 13:10 In the thirty-seventh year of Joash king of Judah, Jehoash son of Jehoahaz became king of Israel in Samaria, and he reigned sixteen years. 11 He did evil in the eyes of the Lord and did not turn away from any of the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he had caused Israel to commit; he continued in them.
12 As for the other events of the reign of Jehoash, all he did and his achievements, including his war against Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel? 13 Jehoash rested with his ancestors, and Jeroboam succeeded him on the throne. Jehoash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.
14 Now Elisha had been suffering from the illness from which he died. Jehoash king of Israel went down to see him and wept over him. “My father! My father!” he cried. “The chariots and horsemen of Israel!”
15 Elisha said, “Get a bow and some arrows,” and he did so. 16 “Take the bow in your hands,” he said to the king of Israel. When he had taken it, Elisha put his hands on the king’s hands.
17 “Open the east window,” he said, and he opened it. “Shoot!” Elisha said, and he shot. “The Lord’s arrow of victory, the arrow of victory over Aram!” Elisha declared. “You will completely destroy the Arameans at Aphek.”
18 Then he said, “Take the arrows,” and the king took them. Elisha told him, “Strike the ground.” He struck it three times and stopped. 19 The man of God was angry with him and said, “You should have struck the ground five or six times; then you would have defeated Aram and completely destroyed it. But now you will defeat it only three times.”
20 Elisha died and was buried.
Now Moabite raiders used to enter the country every spring. 21 Once while some Israelites were burying a man, suddenly they saw a band of raiders; so they threw the man’s body into Elisha’s tomb. When the body touched Elisha’s bones, the man came to life and stood up on his feet.
22 Hazael king of Aram oppressed Israel throughout the reign of Jehoahaz. 23 But the Lord was gracious to them and had compassion and showed concern for them because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. To this day he has been unwilling to destroy them or banish them from his presence.
24 Hazael king of Aram died, and Ben-Hadad his son succeeded him as king. 25 Then Jehoash son of Jehoahaz recaptured from Ben-Hadad son of Hazael the towns he had taken in battle from his father Jehoahaz. Three times Jehoash defeated him, and so he recovered the Israelite towns.

Here's the link to the commentary I read this morning.

Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz became king over Israel in Samaria: He was the grandson of King Jehu, founder of this dynasty. He continued in the same sins as his father and grandfather.
His might with which he fought against Amaziah king of Judah: The reign of Jehoash saw a civil war among the people of God, with the Southern Kingdom of Judah and the Northern Kingdom of Israel at war.
Elisha had become sick: Even men of faith and miracles are not immune to sickness and disease. This great man became sick like others whom he had healed as a channel of the power and blessing of God.

With the illness of which he would die: Though God used Elisha on many occasions to heal others, God appointed this illness to be the means of taking Elisha from this world. God has no one single way that He does this; it is a mistake to believe that all the godly die in their sleep without a hint of prior illness.
Joash the king of Israel came down to him, and wept over his face: This reaction of the king of Israel might seem strange, having just read the description of the sin and evil that marked his reign. However, it is important to remember that Joash was not a worshipper of the false gods; he was a false worshipper of the true God. He had some respect for the true God, and therefore some regard and honor for Elisha.
Then Elisha died: Perhaps he expected or hoped that he would be carried up into heaven after the dramatic pattern of his mentor, Elijah. Yet that was not God’s plan or will for Elisha. Like many others, he simply became old, sick, and then died.
When the man was let down and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived and stood on his feet: This is one of the more strange and unusual miracles in the Bible. There is little explanation and the silence of the record suggests that there was not inherent power in the bones of Elisha to resuscitate others. This seems to be a unique, one-time miracle to bring honor to the memory of this great prophet.

Well today should be interesting in more ways than one.

I left out a section again. Why waste the morning reading about yet another stupid human acting as king of God's people, while not worshipping God himself. Ahab long, long, long, before, set up fake temples and now generations later the kings are acting as ignorant as someone who had no clue God even exists.

There's some mumble jumble about how Elisha told the king of Israel to get a bow and arrows and shoot one out a window and hit the ground a few times. That was supposed to show how Syria would be defeated by Israel.

The last king left them with 50 chariots and a few horses and a few foot soldiers. They could not defend themselves. They weren't relying on God because the message coming out of the temple was not based on anything having to do with the One True God. Men taking money... that's what the temple was. A place to go pay your money and hear the fake preacher do his fake thing.

I posted the story in these verses because Elisha dies. He doesn't get a stairway to heaven. He doesn't go up in a magnificent cloud. A fiery chariot doesn't come down for him. There is no multitude of angels singing choruses for him. He got sick and he died.

Check out verses 20 and 21. Elisha was left in a tomb. Now check it out. Some raiders caused a burial party to dump the dead body and run. In their attempt to escape, the body they were to bury got dumped into Elisha's tomb.

As soon as the man's dead body touched the bones of Elisha, it came back to life!

Wow.... Elisha's dead bones brought a man back to life.

Elisha's bones made a zombie!

I wonder if the raiders hung around to ask the walking corpse who he was.

I posted these verses because I didn't want you to miss....

The Zombie!!!
