American flags or the Republicans have bought them all for the 4th. I noticed there were few, if any, flags at the debates. There were a few stylized red, white, and blue hanging things but a dearth of flags.

Isn't the entire display behind them a flag?

No. That's more of the "stylized" stuff that was discussed. It has the same colors, and looks kind of wavy, but it's definitely not a flag. It's "flag-like", much like this is:

Or this:

Or this:

They give you flag-like impressions without actually being flags.

I'm surprised they didn't have Mexican flags dotted around. They all - both nights - appear to be running for President of Mexico, not the United States.

Gotcha. So you guys are looking for actual flags? What does not having actual flags represent?

Well, what would actual flags represent to you? Imagine that, and then remove that as a part of the presentation. It is the lack thereof that is what is represented.

It wouldn't represent anything to me because I don't feel flags mean anything to a debate stage.

But I didn't start the thread.

What does not having flags on a debate stage represent/mean?

I didn't start the thread, either. However, the lack of the flag to me represents the lack of the emotion, pride, duty, honor, and commitment the flag represents.

If there were a bunch of crosses or stars of david up there, that would represent something. Lack of those represents that those things do not define the people on the stage or their platforms or our government, for that matter. Lack of the flag seems to represent the same lack of what the flag represents.

Communism...Socialism...An absolute hatred for this great Country...Representing some shithole Country instead of your own...a disdain for Patriotism...shall I go on or is it starting to sink in?

You may be on to something.

Not a single GOP primary debate (there were 12) in 2016 had flags.
Maybe it means the people putting on the debates (including the one in this thread) have a reason to see the flag not there, and the candidate's parties don't object.
