I have certainly heard the term bugaboo, but if jigaboo comes out your mouth instead it must be because you are comfortable using that word and your brain defaulted to it when you couldn't think of the word you intended to use.

I sometimes use boogaboo, has nothing to do with race. Have not heard the other in 50 years. Totally forgot, he obviously hasn't.

Bug a Boo was a psychedelic San Fransisco rock band in 1968. They had one almost Top 40 hit but Casey Kasum ruined their careers when he claimed they smoked Campbells soup in a bong.

I always saw it as some kind of curse sort of thing, like a malocchio or a mallook for short as I heard as a kid over Sunday poker games. :)

I mean he wasnt calling someone a name. He was referring to an idea, in which case bugaboo is a good word. It means a thing used to scare someone.
