Think before you Road Rage...

I think it's great that we can now shoot people who piss us off, without all that unnecessary 'fear of being charged with a crime' bull####!!

I don't think you understood what happened.

Read the article again.

Two men got out of their car and approached another man still in his car. One of the men had a knife. The guy in the car felt threatened and shot them both.

I'm pretty sure the guy was fearing for his life.

Pretty sure it had nothing to do with being pissed off...

You're right - I kind of speed-read it, and missed some important info.

However:

I'm pretty sure the guy was fearing for his life.

He was in his running car... and shooting them was a better alternative than driving away?

Now don't get me wrong - I'm all for this, but somehow I don't think I'd get away with that in a similar situation.

...and then we send the shooter on his way and applaud the use of a firearm, once again, in self defense. And the guy who lived learns a valuable lesson about his temper and he lives with the fact that his buddy is dead and he maybe ought to be as well for profound stupidity.

To charge him with MURDER is to turn logic on it's head.

Gotta read the article again.

My understanding is this:

Not sure if this is accurate, but could explain how it happened.

The two guys were in a truck in front of the other guy. They were stopped (at a light maybe). So, they were blocking him in front and another car could have very well been blocking the rear. Both sides could have been blocked too.

Not sure how you can get away if all avenues of escape are blocked.

If I didn't have a weapon I suppose I could ram the other vehicles out of the way.

This guy had a gun and used it...

...speed reading is a little off. The guy being charged BLOCKED the other guys car. Could he have backed away? Maybe. Why should he have to retreat? Was he scared and just froze? Maybe?

Classic case of a firearm being used in self defense and it sounds like two folks who needed shooting got some.

In...

This guy had a gun and used it...

...in self defense in a life or death situation where no cop or law could ever be expected to be of help by anything other than luck and no other reasonable or sane recourse was available.

I applaud the shooter!

sounds to me like the shooter was one of those rich indian douchebags you see...just my $.02.

I just picture a teeny tiny indian doctor like guy that had no means of self defense OTHER than a firearm...and the suspect guy looks real big lol. probably scared the indian ####less

No, I got that. They didn't mention that the shooter was completely trapped, and I assume that there must have been some avenue of escape.

I agree with this. I was merely speculating about my odds of dodging a criminal charge if the same thing happened to me.

...again, should we burden the victim with all sorts of responsibilities while in the midst of a high stress situation? I mean, modern fascist anti second amendment thought always wants to talk about why the shooter didn't run or hide or snap their fingers and disappear and never, ever says "Well, why didn't the attacker stop or walk away or snap their fingers and disappear before they got their dumb azz righteously blown away?"

That's all I am saying. We need to quit blaming victims.

...to me, you'll be fine AND the deceaseds estate will have to pay for your pain and suffering and a new bullet.

That's what makes me laugh when I read posts like this in this forum..

Just reaffirms my stereotype of the rednecks down here.

It could have been anyone.

It could have been billy joe boondocker for all intents and purposes.

I'll tell you what though. If I were in the same situation and had my gun I would have done the same thing. Regardless if I could have escaped or not.
