This is easily dealt with...

Gather other couple you wish to sit with, find a suitable table, remove the table marker/identifier and there you go! Those left standing because they couldn't find their table marker can use the spare seats left by those who didn't do their assigned homework.

Writing on Facebook the bride-to-be said: 'Since both XXX and I are mathematicians, our wedding (which is coming up soon!) will be perfused with mathematical titbits.

'For example, at the dinner, guests will be required to answer a mathematical question in order to find out where they sit. Every guest/couple will be presented with a unique, bespoke question: its difficulty and subject matter drawn directly from what we know their mathematical background to be.

'In fact a vary large number of our guests have research-level mathematical background, so for most of them their question has been drawn directly from research papers or thesis. It's been a rather consuming but entertaining process to look at all kinds of paper that I wouldn't ever normally look at. Like, for example, set theory!'

It's hilarious that she says, "Don't worry, we'll give you a question that matches your intellect." So if you get, "What does 3+5 equal?" you know what the bride thinks of you.

What happens if you don't know the answer? You have to stand all night?

It would have been better received if they had just served pi instead of wedding cake in commemoration of their dominant left brain lobes.

There was some woman in the news that's being scorched because she's telling her "guests" that the wedding is in an Asian country and they need to foot their own bill and take at least two weeks off work, 13 hour flight, etc. I take that as a bride that wants a small wedding with just her and her guy, but felt obligated to invite everyone in the world, so she did a destination wedding so no one would come.

Like this math person - she just wants to make sure her redneck cousins don't show up.

Darwin was right
"In fact a vary large number of our guests have research-level mathematical background..."

Good thing they are going for math seating and not a grammar related selection. Otherwise, they would have no idea where their guests were sitting.
