Introducing Belle... We're all getting used to each other and she doesn't pee on the rug much anymore now that she knows where the door is. No more whining in her kennel at bed time now that she knows she gets treats in and out of her kennel. She loves to play and play and play! I got this little bundle of energy and she's 13weeks!

Congrats!

How do you handle putting her in the kennel? By that I mean, I've never been able to do that, in bed with me they must go. Haven't the heart to lock them behind bars. Not saying you're being mean. Just trying to understand. I know someone that does this and the poor little thing cries, just a puppy and I know it's because he is lonely.

It takes a few days, but she's gotta know that the kennel is her very own private den, just like my bed is my very own private den. We do exercises during the day where I give her a treat and say "kennel" and toss the treat in the kennel, she goes in to get it and I close the door. I say "good girl" or "good kennel" and give her another treat when the door is closed. Then I walk away and if she starts crying I say "no" and walk away again until she doesn't cry anymore, then come right back and say "good girl" and give her another treat. We do this a few times a day. I put her in there when I gotta run errands too. No crying. She went in there the other day to chew on her chewy stick.. all by herself!

We don't know since she was found at a police station. But SMAWL thinks pit bull mix of some sort. I had a pit bull mix before, best dog I ever had. Very smart and obediant. I hope Belle will be that way too, so far so good.

We used the Kennel when our dog was little and now she will just go in by herself when I guess we were bugging her. Its so funny she will be sleeping on the couch and one of us will start to pet her and after a while she will get up and go into her kennel as if to say quit bugging me. :lmao:
