So what do you want us to do?
Laugh at you for spending too much money, or send her a nasty email too?

Um, :biteme:

I assumed she was doing it for money, but if she is giving them away for free, I wonder why she can't just spay the cat. Your kitty is very lucky that you care about it so much.

Well, she just wrote me a very nasty email back and said that the cats are all feral and she can't touch them. She says that these were the only kittens that made it this year because racoons had eaten and killed the other ones. She seems to be under the impression that she can't catch these ferals and have them spayed and re-released. I don't know, seems very irresponsible to me. She also was saying that I was told it was a barn cat to begin with if I didn't want it why did I take it. In my mind it was to save the kitten because I could tell it was sick, also to make sure that she was spayed and could not make anymore kittens. I wanted to do something, even if it is not much. Some people just make you wonder if they are playing with a full deck.

I think you did the right thing- you knew there was a risk in getting the kitten and it needing medical help. You were just trying to tell her that these kittens are not healthy (not to mention some are DEAD) and maybe she should consider spaying the cat. It'd save her a lot of time with getting rid of kittens everytime it has a litter. I'd just ignore her emails...you got your point across as much as you could.

Send her this and give her the phone # to animal warden to get a live trap. Maybe all she needs is someone to guide her. Or kick the crap out of her. Whichever you think is easier.

Just found this on a different board - thought everyone might want to spread the word.

For a limited time, the King George Animal Rescue League is offering free spay/neuters for dogs and cats in need. You can choose from two clinics: Waldorf, MD or Charlotte Hall, MD. After we receive your information, we'll send you a voucher for the clinic of your choice. You then call the clinic, set up the appointment and take the voucher with you for payment. It's that easy!! If you are interested in taking advantage of this offer, please send the following information to info@kgarl.org:

Your full name
Your mailing address
Your phone number
Your preferred clinic (Waldorf or Charlotte Hall)
Name of pet
Species of pet (cat/dog)
Breed of pet
Weight of pet
Age of pet
Any special considerations? In heat, pregnant, heartworm positive?

Thanks Bailey, I just got another email from her husband and he told me to F*&@ off! He tells me that they have ten horses that most are rescues and :blahblah: I'm like if you have that kind of money then what is the problem in getting these ferals spayed and re-released? I don't know, if they don't have the time for the animals, or even care enough to do their job then they just need to call the animal warden and have them help. Seems simple enough to me.

Sent her the info, and this is what she had to say!

Great... When will you and your helpful friends arrive
to catch the cats?

Please let me know as I want to be there to watch the
circus...

She sounds like a big ol b!tch. Maybe we should trap her and have her sapyed and then feed her to the racoons.

It just proves to me that she really doesn't care. I agree, she should be spayed, wouldn't want another one of her to be made! :jameo:

I wonder if there are charges that can be brought against her for animal cruelty or hoarding

Unfortunately I doubt it, because the cats are at her barn and the barn is nowhere near her home. They are all feral so they aren't really considered hers. If it were me, and I had the money she has, which I know she has plenty, you should see her house :faint:, I would do all I could to take care of them and get them spayed and or neutered. But you can't make people care unfortunately.

What about if any of those cats are FIV/Felv (?) positive? I wonder if there is anything that could be done then....

Need to tell her if she will make a donation that a group of concerned citizens would catch the cats and get them vetted/spayed/neutered and re-release them to continue to be mousers in her barn.

What a Loser....

I have not heard back from her since I told her to get a live trap and catch the cats that way. Lord only knows if she will do the right thing. We can only hope. :frown:

there are animal welfare groups who would be able to help this lady trap the feral cats and spay/neuter/release them. it is a wonderful humane system that stops overbreeding, etc. do you think the lady who has these ferals would want help in trapping? :banghead:
