Is the biggest P.O.S. I've ever encountered. It's about 2 weeks old, and I've kept saying it'll grow on me and I'll learn to adapt to it's differences but NO...it's a MFGD P.O.S. !!! I have my work laptop (Dell) have also had Sony, which to me was temperamental, but this thing is the worst. I'm not sure what to do about it. I'll just be typing along and I glance up and I'm in some random page or it's got weird boxes with icons that come flying up for no apparent reason. The internet connectivity is horrible and is constantly reconnecting to my wireless network, which has NEVER been a problem. ' I'm not by any means an IT person, but I'm also not computer illiterate. Even as I'm typing this a box popped up asking about font/script/timeline...etc. The screen has also shifted 4 times and I've had to retype the last sentence twice because when you hit return and the period key too fast it goes into another screen?????????

HP track pads are very sensitive, large and positioned badly. If you just lightly touch the track pad while you're typing, the cursor zooms off to nano land. If you use a USB mouse, go into the Mouse Control Panel and turn off the track pad.

I know lots of people who have complained about this.

Which OS are you using? It sounds like that may be at least part of the root of your problems. WINDOWS7?
As far as internet access; check your router/modem settings. I can't think of anything else that would cause problems without actually seeing what problems you're having.

Edit: I obviously didn't consider the track pad.

It's Windows 8

As far as the wireless drops, you might check the HP website to see if there is an upgraded driver for you network devices. I know a few people who did this and it resolved their issues.

This is what happens when accountants run a tech company. The bottom line carries more weight than quality.
As an E.E,I will never buy another HP product.
This company is far removed from the original engineers that built it. The original quality was excellent and lasted for years. I am now sitting on a $300+ HP inkjet printer ready for the dump. The ink heads are all clogged and HP wants $100.00 for new heads. This printer lasted 6 months.
I recently purchased a Samsung Laser color printer and sorry to say it works wonderful with excellent quality. looks like the Japanese are poised to take over more than the auto industry. Such a shame that profits are the new business ethics.

I should have taken the hint when my office was GIVING away their HP printers. I snagged an HP all in one and what a piece of crap that is too. I honestly read some great reviews of the HP laptops from about a year ago, so when our recent Dell laptop finally died, I told my husband to find me a HP for Valentines Day...what a dumb idea. Never again...you get what you pay for. If I had the choice, I'd use my friggin Iphone over this stupid thing

My recommendation to anyone buying a printer is to NOT get an inkjet. Spend a few more $ and get a laser. They last forever, and while replacement toner is more expensive than an inkjet cartridge, you get far more pages out of one with no fear of clogged nozzles. I bought my first laser printer in 1984 and only just recently ditched it. It still worked, but couldn't handle the complex output of today's software.

If you want to print a photo-quality print, take your picture to WalMart, CVS, Staples, etc... and print what you need on a quality, reasonably well maintained printer. It's far cheaper to do that for the few times you need it.

:yeahthat: I got a cheap ($200?) Minolta laser printer many years ago. It came with a "starter" toner cartridge that only had half as much toner as a regular cartridge...I'm still using the original toner cartridge. Inkjet cartridges would have dried up years ago.

I tried to tell the wife that, but she wouldn't listen :ohwell:

Is that color laser or just black?

Just black. If you need color, go to Staples. You could get a color laser, but they're much more expensive.

I just checked and you can get color laser printers for $300-400 which isn't too bad.

Ahhh. Yeah I think I'd go w/o color.
The print service is a wise suggestion should you need color copies.

Thanks!

Price on color laser isn't bad at all, I've seen under $200.

But it really depends on what you want to do. If 99% of your output is b/w, it doesn't make sense to buy color. For that once in a blue moon need, go to the store and print it there.

If you like to make flyers or Christmas Cards or need color presentations often, buy color.

IMHO - quit wasting money buying INK Jet Printers ... lasers are $ 200 or less

unless you NEED desperately to print in color [you can take photos to Wal-mart on a thumb drive and print color there

I love my personal 17" HP Pavillion laptop. And do not have a single complaint. There were a few things that were different for me at first and I also had to edit some settings and took some adjustment to (like anything new), but this thing is a super powerhouse and it can take everything I've thrown at it...and dropped on it.
