This SOMD headline : 2 year old dies on 4-wheeler

Disco Stu

Shut Up Little Man!!!!
The kid was barely old enough for a TRICYCLE. Much less an ATV.

Typical Hillbilly Behavior.

I bet these dumb ass parents are going to try and sue the maker of the little 4 wheeler saying that somthing was wrong with the remote system.

Wow its been amazing to me to see all the people that are so perfect and have never ever made a single mistake in their parenting where they sat down and thanked God that whatever just happened didnt take their child from them. As parents a lot of times you tend to believe you can protect your child as long as you are the one right there doing something with them. Like riding them on a lawn mower w/ you or a tractor etc.. When you become a parent you are not perfect you learn as you go, and yes unfortunatly you make mistakes, and most of the time you are allowed another chance and you know not the let them ever do it again because of what almost happened. But her almost didnt get a second chance. You people can post whatever you want, but I just pray she will be able to face tomorrow and know she was a good mother and she is going to have to live in her own hell without everyone throwing judgement. Be care of throwing stones at glass houses.

You need to lay off of the crack rocks....only a moron would let a 2 year old drive an ATV. Hello McFly.......I hope you have no kids......You would probably let them jump out of airplanes with no parachutes

You're right. Parents make mistakes all the time, do stupid things. However, this was beyond stupid. A good parent would have considered that childs safety above all else.

Hold on here...... why not just let them drive your car while your at it. Or give them a gun to play with....

Holding your child in your lap when your mowing the lawn is not even in the same ball Park. Nor is it if you placed your child in a bike seat and took the child for a bike ride. You are there, with the child and incontrol of the vehicle.
This child was in control of a gas powered motor cycle, not designed for children under 6.

This has made me sick trust me, but I know the family and know they wouldn't of hurt their son on purpose. But honestly have you ever watched America's funniest Video's? Every evening as a family we watch that and I sit there night after night cringing at some of the stuff that could honestly kill a child if things went just a little different.

nobody thinks that they did it on purpose...everyone's point is that they should have been smarter and used common sense. a 2 year old should not be on a 4 wheeler...maybe a tricycle or a little tikes bike but not a 4 wheeler...we keep stressing this point and all you are doing is going :lalala: we have said the same things over and over...yes we feel bad for the parents b/c they lost a child, no they didn't do it on purpose, yes they are at fault for letting a baby operate heavy machinery...got it?

Thank you so much keepinitsimple. You have hit the nail on the head. People make judgement errors constantly, but like I said before...the people in this message board are apparently "perfect". If, they found someone stupid enough to sleep with them, they ever (or currently) have children, their children will be perfect as they are. No bumps, bruises, scratches, cuts, burns or other things. It's a sad thing that these people hide behind their keyboards, casting judgement on everyone. I guess reality is quite distorted from the high horse they sit on. Do the clouds get in the way seeing reality from your ivory towers? We're all grieving. We're all mourning this child's passing. He was a special little boy. I know what his mother did was a terrible judgement error, but I refuse to hate her for her error. What makes you all so perfect that you can hate someone you don't even know? Don't say "I don't hate her"...because you've called her everything from hillbilly to murderer. I pray next time you all make a mistake, a message board is created to have 10 PAGES WORTH of idiots discussing it in great length.

I would call letting a two year old drive a 4 wheeler more of a Darwin move than a judgment error.

Why not just give the two year old the Keys to the family car. It probably would have been safer for the kid.

If I'm ever that ignorant, then people can talk about me all they want......its pretty obvious that the parents were about 5 IQ points from being Vegetables.

BadGirl

I am so very blessed
A good way to evaluate this situation is to imagine if SOMEONE ELSE were watching that child and the same thing happened while on that caretaker's watch.

How would this boy's parents handle the situation if a babysitter or an aunt were watching this kid instead of them and the same thing happened to him. Would they try to bring charges against the caretaker for negligent homicide or child endangerment? Probably so. So it's not unreasonable to think that this same fate should come to the parents on THEIR watch.

Quite simply, this death happened because they provided this tiny child with a toy that was not age appropriate for him. They were reckless and irresponsible, and their actions should have serious criminal consequences.

None of us claim to be perfect. Yes, children get bumps and bruises all the time, but not at the carelessness of their parents. They fall down and bust lips, they climb trees and fall out, the ride bikes (when they're old enough and big enough) and fall off. I didn't teach my daughter to ride a bike until she was 5 years old. Parents don't intentionally put their children in harms way as these parents did. It was not an accident that the parents purchased the "toy". It was not an accident that the child was "operating" it.
