Dear QuickBooks Payroll Customer,

Intuit will discontinue service for QuickBooks Payroll and Direct Deposit for QuickBooks 2005, effective May 31st, 2008. After this date you will need to be on a more recent version of QuickBooks in order to calculate payroll taxes, submit direct deposit payrolls and complete payroll forms.

To learn more about your subscription go to the "Employees" menu in QuickBooks, choose "Get Updates", then choose "Get Payroll Updates" and press the "Account Info" button. This will allow you to update your QuickBooks Payroll subscription and purchase a QuickBooks upgrade.

More information is available at QuickBooks Discontinuation Plan.

Sincerely,

QuickBooks Payroll Team
They basically blackmail you into upgrading your QB software, when the version you're currently using has everything you need and there would otherwise be no reason to spend money on the upgrade.

The alternative is to blow them off completely and go with different software, but then I'd have to enter 12 years worth of data into the new program.

GREAT, now I will probably get the same notice next year since I have the 2006 version. It makes no sense at all. I don't remember how much it was in the first place but I do know it wasn't cheap:doh:
Let me know if you find a way around it and Good Luck

They do this alot. QB is the program that I have used for years. I was trained on it years ago. It's expensive to keep up. How much are they charging? Last upgrade I did was $75.00. The company I last worked for had to upgrade every year because of new tax crap.

My dad is going throught the exact same thing with his company. There is no way around it besides switching to another software, and they probably make you do the same thing every couple of years too. He found a coupon for QB 2008 in the BJ's book they send. It's cheaper than actually going through QB to get it. It's almost $500 for 2008!

HP decided not to support their older (5 years) printers for Vista. They said buy a new printer. So I got a Dell, Dude.

Well isn't that special. Are you somehow implying that HP does support their older printers?
They apparently support my older printers.

Just checked and my other hp 750, which is 6 years-old, is still supported.

What model printer do/did you have?

QB Pro 2008 at BJ's is 119. dollars(with coupon), which is a bargain!!! Where they get you too is you have to pay for the Payroll service, even when you do it!! I have only a couple employees, but it does make the service invaluable. (office expense, write it off.)
