BROOKSVILLE --
A nurse practitioner was arrested after deputies said she left her dog locked in a car outside Oak Hill Hospital.
Deputies responded to the parking lot of the hospital Wednesday shortly after noon after receiving a call about an animal in distress.
The caller told the operator that a mixed-breed dog was locked in a gray four-door Toyota Camry, and that the dog, which had been in the car for over an hour, was panting and foaming at the mouth.
When deputies arrived, they found the car with the dog inside. An Animal Services officer checked the temperature inside the car and found it was 120 degrees Fahrenheit, officials said.
