How sad...
I'd like to be generous and say something nice about the family but...well...

The oldest son was a pal of Kyle's and he was a superstar football player - got a full scholarship somewhere and I have a memory that he was a decent enough kid. The Dad got to see very few of his son's varsity games because he got abusive once too often and got barred for the season. The Mom was Em's cheer coach - she got into a shouting match with Larry over the phone because she has psycho issues. Then there was the son with the pipe bomb.

Very sad.

Let's see...psycho mother and brutal father. Now what the heck did this have to do with a 16 year old kid that died?

She said it was "very sad". I think that lends itself to sympathetic. She even managed to say something nice about a family member. What's really very sad is that the family is so screwed up. Why you gotta' be hatin' and criticizing other people's ways of looking at the world?

Wow, what a sad tragedy! My son will be 16 in two years... I shudder when I think of stories like this!

Driving Age Restrictions Raised In Aftermath Of Teen's Death

Just months after her 16th birthday and driving with only a learner's permit, officials said Keeney's death has renewed an old debate over the minimum driving age.

Across the region, young drivers and accidents have proven to be a deadly combination, police said.

In Maryland, one delegate is hoping to prevent tragedies like Keeney's with legislation that would require drivers be 17 years old before they get behind the wheel.

At Middletown High School, where Keeney was a cheerleader, most parents knew of the accident and said they are going to keep a close eye on their teen drivers.

Most seem to support raising the driving age, but even in the aftermath of another fatal accident, not everyone is on board with the issue.

Wow. They think that a 17 YO will be more responsible than a 16 YO. This is a band-aid, feel good solution that does nothing to actually fix the problem. The only reason that this is proposed is because politicians feel like they need to do something, even if it is a worthless token effort.

There is no easy solution to kids getting dead behind the wheel. We have been told that having other kids in the car causes crashes, so lets ban that. This girl was alone, and she's still dead.

People have to raise thier kids to not be stupid, and there's no way you can legislate that.

:yay: Now there is something we can really agree on. Parents need to be parents first, not their kid's friend.

Well, cigarettes and second hand smoke kill people. We've banned that.

Car crashes and second-hand collisions also kill people.

Let's ban cars.

It'll be good for the environment too.
