Calvert County State’s Attorney Robert Harvey is pleased to report that in 2024, Calvert County experienced the lowest crime rate of any jurisdiction (23 counties and Baltimore City) in the State of Maryland. According to data published in the Maryland NIBRS Crime Dashboard, Calvert recorded 1,634 incidents per 100,000 population; the Statewide average was 3,771 incidents per 100,000.
Some of the credit for this success goes to the women and men of the Calvert County State’s Attorney’s Office who, along with the Sheriff's Office, the Maryland State Police, and the DNR Police, work diligently to combat crime and hold people accountable for their actions. But, frankly, most of the credit belongs to the citizens of Calvert County. Calvert is blessed with strong families, strong neighborhoods, and strong civic and religious organizations. When neighbors look out for one another, report suspicious activities, and refuse to tolerate criminal behavior, the crime rate goes down.

SOMEONE SHOULD MAIL THIS TO THE FORMER MRS. JOE SHYMANSKY,,,, as her boyfriend is awaiting trial...

Thanks to Democrats I don't trust "crime stats" anymore because they just decline to charge and voila! Lower crime rate.
Yeah, but it's Calvert County and four of its five Commissioners are "Republicans" (meaning former Democrats who wanted to win an election) and one Republican (meaning one who didn't switch parties so he could win) so there is a pretty strong law and order aspect here regardless.
You don't read in Calvert about people accused of murder being released to electronic monitoring like in Charles County and the Judges here tend to max sentences.

You are right NBP, BUT "Judge Robyn", a former district court judge in Saint Mary's, was a catch and release proponent. I guess "Rob" told her she shouldnt do that here, as they sat around noshing dinner...
