Attention everybody, to let you all know, during the evening time, one of the injured that was flown out, has died. They have confirmed. I cannot tell anybody of who it was though. It will possibly go to the news.

All prayers to the family...such a tragic ending.

So what caused the accident? My guess is someone ran a red light or pulled out of lone star without looking good enough.

I drove by at 3 and was amazed when I came back south and it was still there at 5.

Those bystanders should have not moved that child out of the seat, they should have waited for the Fire/EMS to get there, they coul dhave injured that child more. Also there was gas leaking from the car, that gas could of exploded and injured those bystanders which could have made more people injured to take to the hospital.
That's one of the stupidest things I've seen written on these forums.. They should just stand around and watch while people bleed, or listen so you can tell EMS when they get there.. "Oh yeah, he was gurgling and spitting blood, until he stopped breathing 7 minutes ago. Do you think you can save him?"

There was an accident in NH at a tool booth, a Jeep with a young family in it got rear ended at high speed while they were stopped. They ended up on their roof, and ALL the bystanders, including the people in the toll booths sat, watched, and listened to the screams as the family in the Jeep burned to death. I'm sure that family is happy that everyone waited for EMS to show up on the scene.

Yep, great advice there Superman..

I TOTALLY DISAGREE, that's why we have good samaritan laws in place. What if the gas had ignited and no EMS/Fire were on the scene, then what??? Bystander are left to describe the baby who burned up???

I have personally reached into vehicles to apply direct pressure on wounds that would have made the victim bleed to death and went into a burning apartment to get everyone out well before rescue teams arrived. In any accident or incident, time is critical and their are many competent citizens who have the basic knowledge to make a difference during the critical first stages of an accident. And yes, I have training in disaster preparedness, first aid, CPR, and AED, if you think I will stand by as a spectator till help arrives, you're crazy, i'll do what I can taking safety into consideration... :coffee:

I'm trying to understand what happened by looking at the photo's, but it's hard to figure out what actually happened.
I can't figure it out either...
Green van - damage to whole front and rear passenger-side
White car - damage to upper rear (notice that the bumper is untouched)
White van - damage to front and driver side
Green car - AFU...most damage to rear and driver side

My best guess is that the white van hit the green car in the rear driver side and went airborne with the driver side of the van hitting the rear of the white car, but I can't figure out the involvement of the green van... So, my best guess is obviously wrong.

I cant either...the green van was up front way ahead of the rest...the white van in the middle...and the green car and white car in behind..at least they went to rest like that..and the white van was facing the wrong way and upside down..

Does anyone have any info on any of the victims? Just wondering if any of them are in need of any support of any type. We all like to clown around but I am sure there are many of us that would like to help if it is needed. I keep looking at the pictures with the crushed trunk and the babies carriage. I have to keep thanking God the baby is okay and that my two year old can stand near me totally oblivious that these things can happen to anyone.

Seabreeze...amazing a baby came out of the back of this car unharmed...I am still very worried about her mother till I hear who passed..

My gut feeling is that the driver of this car is the one that did not survive. It's very, very sad that anyone died, but it's especially sad to think of a child that loses their mother.....:frown:

We thought that was weird also because the green van in the front also seem to have front end damage... In fact, as far as we could tell, they all had front end and rear end damage.

By the way:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16952774/

Shannon Lorio says that after her car careened down an embankment, the wayward dog found her bruised and battered on the vehicle’s trunk, pulled her by her shirt collar, dragged her about 50 yards through briars to a highway and let her lean against him so she could flag a passing motorist.
Wonder how much training this dog had...
First item on the agenda for the wandering canine: obedience training.
Answer: None at all.

K was wondering how the dog immobilized the person before moving her.

That's great that you go by protocols...but the rest of us go by good hearts, and adrenalin, and instincts. All you both are doing is critisizing the "Bad" they did instead of looking at the heroic efforts those samaritans did...kudos for all that helped! :yay:
He's trying to tell you that the general public may accidentally hurt an injured person worse if they don't know what they are doing. He's not saying that they were bad people for trying to help, he's just trying to prevent further injury by untrained people.

Yeah, they ARE criticizing. Sometimes criticism is constructive, though, if people would quit being so sensitive and just LISTEN for damned change.

no, what he said is the ignorant bystanders should stand there and do nothing until the highly trained EMS crew shows up..

If you all would want to help fine. But Chief 3 that was the command Unit, he said a lot of poeple were around the vehicles, thats why he had called for so many Ambulances. They the dispatch had to cancel it. which made the Incident a bit more big, than it had to be, because of the people out there to help.

If you are going to help, then you are going at your own risk, to hurt yourself, which can make the Incident bigger and longer to finish.

What in God's name are even talking about? I hope you never have to write a report about any incidents.
