I think Chief 3 is the name of a unit & Chief Johnson was, at the time of the accident, the head of that unit.5857dave said:Since when has a helicopter ever been able to do an investigation?

Yeah, they ARE criticizing. Sometimes criticism is constructive, though, if people would quit being so sensitive and just LISTEN for damned change.

OMG, and I thought my writing skills suck!!! Can someone translate???SMC Dispatch said:If you all would want to help fine. But Chief 3 that was the command Unit, he said a lot of poeple were around the vehicles, thats why he had called for so many Ambulances. They the dispatch had to cancel it. which made the Incident a bit more big, than it had to be, because of the people out there to help.
If you are going to help, then you are going at your own risk, to hurt yourself, which can make the Incident bigger and longer to finish.

I'm thinking the green van failed to notice the mom stopped at the light and rear ended her. Which would explain why it was so far ahead of the other cars is because he was carrying so much speed. The speed limit through there is 35 i think. Everyone does like 50.NikkoBlues said:No one from MSP has confirmed and/or stated that the accident was fatal.
"You talkin' to me?" I didn't give you red. If it was unsigned red, it wasn't from me. But thanks to whoever gave ME the unsigned red!mehlert74 said:Well EXCUSE me for the mistake; didn't know everyone was perfect..and next time you give me a red karma, make sure you know that i am not a dimwit child, but an adult...but i thank you for the red, that means I have pi$$ed someone off over something so stupid...![]()
Kind of looks like that doesn't it?JustTodd said:Did that van fly over that white car???
Yes, thanks.tikipirate said:I think what Chrystee is saying is why doesn't SMC have paid, professional firefighters and EMTs. (Not that our volunteers ever fail us.) We have a big enough tax base to support a paid force. And maybe even properly reimburse the volunteers who now protect us, without sending them into the streets drumming up money with raffle tickets and bake sales.
The VW was the white car, the woman and baby were in the green car. So are you saying that the woman in the GREEN car is the one that is brain dead or the woman in the WHITE VW is?Dondi said:I have an associate at work who is an LP EMT and he had this to say. The last he heard was that the woman of the VW Passat was basically brain dead upon arrival to the Hospital. He didn't know if they took her off life support or what. The ironic thing is that she is a military wife freshly moved into the area, along with her infant child. And that her husband had not yet joined her here yet, presumably finishing up at his old duty station before tranferring.
Anyway, take this as you will. But that's the story I got thus far.

I guess I shouldn't try to speak for Hurricane, maybe that is what he meant. And I'm sorry that I posted right after your story about the jeep at the tollbooth, it may have given the impression that I think bystanders should always do nothing but dial 911. In that case, where there was actually a fire, then by all means pull those people out if you can and nevermind their necks.itsbob said:no, what he said is the ignorant bystanders should stand there and do nothing until the highly trained EMS crew shows up..
I can understand that fuel leakage caused by accidents is common, and it may or may not ignite, but who in the hell wants to take that kind of chance? It's not like you have alot of time to extract the victims once you see the gasoline ignite! I'd much rather be safe than sorry.bohman said:I guess I shouldn't try to speak for Hurricane, maybe that is what he meant. In this case, though, I'd bet a little more patience could have been used. Fuel spills happen regularly in serious accidents but only a few actually catch fire; the presence of fuel is not necessarily enough reason to risk paralyzing someone. I won't go so far as to say that the good samaritans here made a mistake, because I wasn't present. However, given that nothing was on fire and knowing that emergency crews from L.P. can respond almost instantly to that stretch of 235, my best guess is that they should have waited.
None of that is intended to call the these good samaritans bad people, or that they should be sued, etc.
