Throw a snowball, get a felony charge

A 13-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday and faces a felony charge for allegedly hitting a Chicago police officer in the arm with a snowball. The boy said he was wrongly implicated, as he was in a crowd of kids walking home from school.

The officer said the snowball hit him in the arm as he sat in his marked squad car, the Chicago Tribune reported. The boy was taken into custody and charged as a juvenile with aggravated battery to a “peace officer,” which is a felony.

Reminds me of the DC cop that pulled his gun on folks during Snowmaggedon 2010.

D.C. snowball fight 'fun and games' until gun appears

I have no problem with this. If I were walking down the street and some little bastard hit me with a snowball, I would want to kill his ass. Why should a cop have to put up with assault - because that's what it is, assault - just because he's a cop?

Why do you, Chris, think it's okay for a teenager to assault a police officer?

A 13year old facing a felony charge for tossing a snowball??

That seems a little harsh to me. Sure he needs to be told he was wrong in a serious way, but not a felony charge, Come on.

At least they didn't put any rocks in the snowball or wet them and let them freeze before throwing them like we did, back when I was in High school .Kids do dumb things and sometimes they need a little bit of discipline, but a felony charge for a snowball seems a bit harsh to me.

Yea, the cop should have shot his punk ass before he robbed someone, or broke into their house right?

I mean, first it's throwing snowballs at 13. Next thing you know, he's a gang leader.

Lock him up and throw away the key! Make sure that felony charge sticks and he'll never be a productive member of society again! But, if he gets unemployment and food stamps, I'll be pissed!

Why does the term "felony charge" jack everyone up? It's a charge, not a sentence. When the judge kicks it out, it will go away. In the meantime Little Bastard has the chit scared out of him and perhaps learns to not assault police officers.

Unless he listens to pro-criminal enablers like you all, then he learns that he can do whatever the hell he pleases and be supported. That's how we got all the ####ty people we have in this country, by not making them suffer consequences for their actions.

Punishment is supposed to be harsh, otherwise what's the point?

No but if he has no respect for the cops, then do you think he's going to have any respect for anyone else?

according to all patients in an emergency evaluation ward in any city, they are great too...

same holds true with prisons. not a single guilty person among them.

And all those are person to person contacts. No one here has ever met me.

The police confirmed he in in no gang, and has no prior criminal history.

Tell me again how being arrested, and drug through the court system with a felony charge at 13 years old will make him have respect for cops.

Tell me what type of respect he had before he had the balls to throw a snowball at a cop before?

right because you are going to continue the JOB interview after you hear the world Felony .... and record

If the charge is dropped (and it will be) why would any potential employer ever hear the word "felony"?

But that does not negate a criminal history, which is not the same as a criminal record. Or do you not understand that and need me to make it even clearer than it already is?

LMAO. In this life of mine I have been called a lot of things, but this is the first time I have been called a pro-criminal enabler, and that for saying this child should not be charged with a felony. For a 13 year old is still a child , and children sometimes do things without thinking of the consequences.

Then you go on to call that child a little bastard--it's funny I didn't see his parentage mentioned in the story.

Certainly punishment should be rendered, his father (which according to Vraiblonde he may not know) should whip his butt, and make him apologize to the officer.

In the old days that worked pretty good. Most of us older Americans remember those days, when a parent could punish a child. We didn't get a police record and most of us turned out pretty good.
