Rt235 / Rt5 being 2 lanes from Waldorf to Point Lookout. About the only thing on Great Mills Road past Bambino's was Auldridge Ford. (no StMarys Square)
:howdy:

Yes, I remember the 2 lanes, and then it became 4 until somewhere north of Hollywood back in the 70's. GM Road definitely has changed over the years, hasn't it?

Memories .......

The FlatTops used to be Base Housing, WalMart was a trailer park, the Drive-In Movie Theater was the place to go.

Watching the Price is Right and the exercising to Richards Simmons was a daily occurence followed by naptime so Grandma could watch her Soaps in peace and quiet!

Leave It To Beaver, The Brady Bunch, The Adams Family and The Munsters would come on one right after the other starting at 3pm.

Riding my Green Machine and my little brother had his Big Wheel. Roller Skates with big yarn pom poms that my granny made for me. I had those pom poms on my tennis shoes too.

Leg Warmers and Headbands when FlashDance was a hit and Olivia Newton John was in Xanadu. Everyone had to have a Micheal Jackson Glove and Jacket. Parachute Pants, Jeans with all the fold-down pockets, Jordace Jeans with the bow and zipper on the back leg. Jelly Shoes were the rage and boy did they make your feet sweat! Neon apparal following Wham's hit "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go".

I could go on and on as well :yahoo:

Only Sinclair I'm familiar with is Mr. Sinclair Hill who used to own the Western Auto in Leonardtown. I think he also ran the Hill's Club up the road.

I don't know if someone mentioned this one or not but....

There was no Noggin, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, or Disney Channel when I was a kid.

We got cartoons for 3 or 4 hours on Saturday morning and that was IT. Every once in a while, you could catch Tom & Jerry on Channel 5 after school, but anything resembling a SpongeBob or Fairly Oddparents Marathon was strictly a thing of fantasy.

And there was no such thing as Velcro fastened shoes. You had laces on your shoes. Period.
Deputy Dog !

Who remembers when the 4 lanes of rt 4 stopped at the PF fire dept?

On the way to solomons you had to go up "Smokey the Bear Hill" named for the smokey the bear fire prevention billboard at the top.

How about the Enchanted Forest in Ellicot City.

I'll never forget our annual family Christmas shopping trip to Harundale Mall in the 60's.
The Harundale Mall in Glen Burnie was the first enclosed shopping mall east of the Mississippi ! and the second in the United States !
Used to throw pennies in the fountain and I can still smell the great food in the cafeteria of Hochschild Kohn's Department Store.

We used to travel the single lane 2/4 from Solomons to Prince Frederick once a week to go grocery shopping at the A&P (loved to smell the fresh ground coffee).

Drove right past the Landfill in Lusby (where the Chesapeake Hills Clubhouse sits now !) and I remember 'Smokey the Bear' Hill !
