That's when my friend and I took a jon boat on up 249 on a beer run. We were flagged down by a NG deuce and a half with NG, Deputies, and VFD onboard. They needed us to transport an elderly woman from her house to the truck for evac.

Most of the island actually. The road wasn't too bad, probably about 2ft deep, but they couldn't get the truck to the house.

The island was closed off..police manned the barricade on the mainland side. There were only two reasons they accepted for permission to pass on the island...your ID had an island address, or you stated you were there to attend the annual pig roast.
