TO and Witten near altercation

The Star-Telegram is reporting that wide receiver Terrell Owens and tight end Jason Witten had “a near altercation” in the locker room on Friday. Citing two unnamed sources, the paper reports that Owens and Witten exchanged words before being separated.

However, both players acted like everything was fine when reporters entered the locker room.

Sometimes I wonder if Dallas doesn't promote this drama for headlines just to get the water-coolers buzzin'.

I think TO just wants to be Romo's roommate, so he's a little jealous.

On another note, what is a 'near altercation'. I mean, it's either an altercation or it isn't. If they didn't at least have an 'altercation', then there was nothing to take note of - unless they were starring at each other kinda challengingly. Is a 'near altercation' like - they argued but they just weren't quite vehement enough about it to make it an actual altercation - it stopped just before it would have been considered an altercation.

It's like saying 'very unique'.

'near altercation', meaning the media is foaming at the mouth at any story that may come out of the Dallas locker room.

Yeah, exactly. And just to be clear, I'm questioning the wording in the news report - I realize your title was just using their language which was quoting an unnamed source.
