Was just curious as to what speeds everyong gets in the area.

Here's mine from MetroCast:

Funny that you should mention that...

I've been having some serious issues with getting consistent speed...

The true test of your speed is to check it between 6-11 PM when everyone is home, TV's on, and Internet blazing. The Metrocast guys like to say TV doesn't affect Internet speed, but that's B.S because they all have to flow through the same pipes, and the TV bandwidth takes a big share of that pipe, especially the HD stuff...

My 6 megabit connection is dropping down to barely 1 megabit during that time...

But then this is even more bazaar. This site reports a good connection during problem times?

It's good to run this stuff and hold their feet on the fire if you're getting a crappy connection and only half the speed you're paying for...

I've had Metrocast out more than once and they've often found bad amplifiers etc on the utility poles...

They fix those, and wham, speed is back up...

These websites checking your speed have "absolutely nothing" to do with your computer...

Your ISP is Verizon. If you have DSL, that's about as much as you can expect down here, unless your contract specifies a faster rate. If you have FIOS, you need to complain.
