Cheesesteak. :sniffle:What more can you ask for?
Get going you twit! I've been there twice, both times for a month. The country is lovely, the people are fun and hospitable, and there is a lot to do and see. Cains, Brisbane, and the Northern Territory are amazing. Rain forests, diving, the blue mountains, and endless empty beaches. Rent a camper or small motorhome, there are caravan parks all over and places you can camp almost right on the surf. I loved everything about it. Big country, hardly any people. And the few people there are tend to be a hardy, fun, and hard partying lot. What more can you ask for?

I used to live in Japan for 4 years, it wasn't such a awful flight from there. I was seriously into diving at the time and didn't have kids. We stayed on live-aboard sailboats for a week on each trip, it was diving heaven on the reef. The rest of the time it was all camping and hiking. Cairns was a great point to start off from. Charming little city with an international airport, boats out of there all the time. Right in the rainforst area and the mountains as well. I would love to live there.
Wanna split a trip?

Ding! Go and don't think twice. I only wish I had the opportunity to go to Australia when I was your age, BL. Sometimes you just have to take a blind leap of faith and just DO it.Life is not a spectator sport.

I've never been diving before. Isn't it a bit scary the first time?I used to live in Japan for 4 years, it wasn't such a awful flight from there. Get the passport anyways...it takes longer than it used to. And it costs extra if you need to rush it. And once you have it..it's no worry getting out.
Alright! Alright! I'll at least consider it more than I have. I might even get a passport just in case.
My girlfriend (not married :shwooSo...is your girlfirend/wife Australian..and you're asking US if you should go? Or am i confused about something?

Well, you might want to get your open water certification before you go if you're interested in diving. Don't waste precious vacation time in a class for a week! Nah, it's not scary unless you're already afraid of the water. It's easy, especially now with the new dive computers and such. You don't have to even know the tables anymore and there are safety limits built into the computers to keep you from killing yourself.I've never been diving before. No can do. Have two small babies now and just moved to Texas! Hubby would take issue with it as well. And now you're here in SOMD.
:ifeelyourpain:
So..you wanna split a trip to Australia??? I need to get to the west coast..but there's lots of packages available once you hit Sydney.

BuddyLee...honestly.My girlfriend (not married :shwoowas born there. Her mother (also an Aussie) moved over here when she was about ten. Her father, sister, and other family still reside in Australia.
She's not good at convincing me. Plus, her opinion is biased.![]()

If we go it will be in the middle of July. I wonder how cold it gets in the middle of July. :shiver:BuddyLee...honestly.
Go as soon as you can, for as long as you can.
That way, when you get back to the States, you can better plan on getting back there as fast as you can.
Go.
It never really gets cold there except in the mountains and the extreme south. Up in Northern area it's tropical and warm year around. It does rain a lot more at certain times of year though. If we go it will be in the middle of July. I wonder how cold it gets in the middle of July. :shiver:
