If we go it will be in the middle of July. I wonder how cold it gets in the middle of July. :shiver:
July's the middle of winter, there. While you're not going to get snowed in, you're not going to be able to take advantage of the beaches, etc.

I went for the month of November....their late Spring.

But still...if that's all you can manage...still go.

It never really gets cold there except in the mountains and the extreme south. Up in Northern area it's tropical and warm year around. It does rain a lot more at certain times of year though.
As long as its not like the soggy cold winters around here I'll be happy.

I don't know where you will be visiting but check out the temps here.

Go to the library, get some books, get jazzed over it! It's the trip of a lifetime if you do it right. Don't fly all that way and hang out at her parents house in the Sydney 'burbs. Get adventuring!
I'll definitely have to do some research and get a list going of all the things I would like to see.

I wonder if they have any haunted locations.

Maybe Bush will go to war with Australia.:yahoo:
that's not funny.

Though I would get to go to Australia to fight for them.

Like I said before..it's dumb for us to have to convince you to go to Australia on vacation.

That's like me having to be forcefully convinced to breathe.

Yes, it does sound dumb.

I guess I'm just a work-a-holic. I always feel like I could be doing more.

Like you guys said, I'll probably regret it if I don't go. Right now, I feel as if I'll regret it if I don't work my butt off to establish myself as soon as possible.

Trust me.

Work will always be an option...Australia won't be.

Your personal ethics are commendable but how many tombstones have you read that said,

"I wish I'd have worked more"?

:tap:

Should I wait for a response?:sarcasm:

I suppose I'm in need of a long...long vacation away from Satan's Food Warehouse. In fact, I can't wait to get out of there completely.

Don't waste your time driving or flying out to that rock in the desert. Ayres rock is just that. A big rock sticking out of a whole lot of uninteresting desert. :bigwhoop: The northern Blue mountains were lovely, remote, and empty as hell. I stayed at the equivalent of a state park there and there was only one other camper in the place. Pack along a lot of beer and never pass up a gas station, it's a loooong way to the next one. I loved the rainforest and the hiking there, it was amazing. Bring comfortable broke in boots and be aware there are some nasty critters and plants there.

Yowza!

Australia is claimed to have the nine most poisonous spiders in the world. It is true that we do have the most venomous snake in the world - the Fierce Snake. And it's also true that we have the world's most painful plant - the aptly-named stinging tree.
That article was pretty interesting though. Have you been stung by a stinging tree?

Believe me, do it now. Once you're grown up and get married and have kids it's too darn late. I'm glad I spent my youth adventuring and living overseas for 12 years. If I had waited till I was "established" it would have been too late. Of course it helped living in Germany, England, Portugal, and Japan. :lmao: Every weekend was an adventure! I miss being young and having nothing but a few bucks, a backpack, and a Eurorail pass...

Nope, but I scraped off leeches and scrambled my ass off fearing crocs crossing a few streams. The snakes and spiders there are no joke either. Just like anyplace keep your wits about you and your hands to yourself.

I bet something like going through a rainforest really gets your adrenaline pumping.

I've never really thought about going into a rainforest but this seems genuinely exciting.

It was exciting. As well as humid, steep, and wet. It was beautiful though, waterfalls all over. Look at the national parks in Queensland. The area is seriously uninhabited though and enormous. Have a clue and don't just wade in, you need maps, a compass and a pack with a few necessities. It is the no-crap kind of wilderness that people get lost and die in. We weren't pros and stuck to reasonably marked trails, even then we had a few moments "WTF are we!" panic and backtracking. I have great pics and would do it all again in a heartbeat.

Travel with a camper/camper van/mini motorhome is great. Most are equipped with the basic supplies like folding beach chairs, pots, plates, glasses and are much cheaper than you would think. Then you have your lodging, transport, and beer fridge all in one place. Nothing like pulling up someplace lovely, whiping out your beach chair and cracking a beer.
