Today's bald eagle

Rt. 5 near the WaWa, just hanging with some crows...

Once again, straight off the card. The "fringing" isn't as pronounced in this shot as it is in my others when the digital zoom was used. I cranked off 8 shots and this was the best.

Is is snowing today? Just wondering cause it looks like a shot of a white eagle in a snow storm :lmao:

I live off of 234, not far from allens fresh, there are two bald eagles that I see there often flying around. I have even seen them flying close to my home as well.

I saw two yesterday - one north of Dunkirk on Rt4 and another down by the entrance to White Sands. I'm so glad the population is making a comeback!

There's a nest that you can see from 234 where it crosses Allen's Fresh. In February it was common to see about 10-15 eagles (juveniles from last year and adults) perched all over the place there or standing on the edges of the reeds.

Cool! I'd see ravens hanging out with eagles in Alaska when I was stationed there ... thought they were buddies until I saw that the ravens were just there to harass the eagle when it caught something :)

Thanks to all for the kind words. Right place, right time but the funny thing is that if I did not have the new camera, I never would have gotten this shot because the 775 would have been at home.

Tomorrow will be high water day, St. Clement's Creek under the 242 bridge, and Macintosh run under 5.

If any of you get a chance, take canoe or kayak down Macintosh run out to Breton Bay. It's a nice float, the water does get skinny in spots but no need to portage or wade. Tons of wildlife and there are a couple of pockets where the water is really shallow and covered with some kind of pink flower. The ONLY picture I have ever taken and subsequently had framed and hung in my house was taken there.

I saw three on Wednesday down the along the river playing "grabazz". They were waaayyy too far for me to even consider a shot. As far as seeing so many of them  I have one that comes to a tree in my neighbor's yard several times a week and there are some nesting pairs around here close by.

I'm just amazed that I've lived here so long and never saw one until a year or so ago. Clean water? You mean it's clean for him now when we can hardly swim in it?
