On the What Next website, one of the cancer survivors suggested that we should have a daily devotional to help us get through it all.
This is the one I chose for today.
When I was 16 I was in a horrible auto accident. I went through the windshield. I was out on a date. My boyfriend borrowed a valiant with a bench seat for the night. This was back in 1966, before the seatbelt law. I don't remember much from that night but I do remember that I was sitting next to him and I was tuning in our radio station. It was icy that night and we slid into a parked car. I went through the windshield and the motor went into the seat where I should have been sitting. Had I been sitting there.... well, let's just say that God was looking out for me that night.... as He is now.
Back when I was 16 I didn't know that this song was actually a hymn. I hadn't found a Bible that I could understand when I was 16. I only had Bible Stories that I learned in Sunday School and in the books that my dad kept for us. Our church back then was really a great church. The pastor read from the Old Testament every Sunday night and explained every verse in plain English. We also had favorite hymns night on Sunday nights.... but I never found this hymn in the old hymnal. If I had, I'm sure I would have requested it every Sunday night.
Please enjoy this hymn that goes with my daily devotional today.
