In My Opinion
I hear the same type of thing happened the day before this one, but it was in Texas I think.
Ill see if I can find a link to it.

On the bright side, this happened in the county not the city, so if he/she/they are caught, the chances are that they will actually be punished for it with some jail time.

If they're a teenager under 18? With our judicial system? I doubt whether they'll get more than a slap on the hand.

I heard that yesterday. They think it might be a copy cat. This is a perfect time to have a little "eye for an eye" justice.

I don't think anybody wants to know what would happen to a person that did that to my kid.

I heard on the radio this morning that it was 2 teenage boys the poured the cleaner on the slide and then left. They were only fined 1000.00. I did a search to see what information I could find. I found two links about the story but no information on who did it or what the punishment was.

If it were my child that went down that slide. Those two boys would be getting more then 1000.00 fine and a slap on the hand.

They only got charged with reckless endangerment and theft, because they stole the drain cleaner. Those sound like easy charges to me.

HERE is the link to the story in NBC 4's website.

I can't believe these 2 didn't face more charges, after what they put that poor little kid through! I would be livid if I was his mother!

I think someone should pour the cleaner on them. Eye for an eye and all that..

This is one of the problems with crime in this country. In ChristyVrainia, these kids would have been executed. You can pretty much figure that anyone who would deliberately pour drain cleaner on a slide with the intent to injure little kids isn't going to be missed.

We don't lock up our kooks until they commit a crime, which is fine. But once they DO commit a crime, we STILL don't lock them up. Then we take away the right for people to protect themselves against predators.

Crazy.

I 2nd this motion. They should be put to sleep just as we do other animals that have proven to be a harm to society.

The $1,000 fine was from one idiot caller to DC101 this morning. There is no way that is all these idiots will get. There is no way they have been charged, arraigned, and sentenced so soon, so there is no reason to over react to the rumor of a light sentence.

With the publicity this case has seen I am confident there will either be an appropriate punishment or the prosecutor will be lynched.

Pete

Repete
Remember a few years ago the American kid who was in Thailand or Singapore and got caught vandalizing cars or something? He was sentenced to be caned(sp) and everyone was up in arms about it.

I can't help but think we have become too civilized and the ways of old might not have been so bad. Strap these 2 up in the town square and give them 20 lashes each.

1. It would give considerable pause to anyone contemplating crap like this if they faced being chained up and whipped in public.

2. It might cause some parents to engage their kids if they had to stand next to them on a pedestal while they got whipped.

This is where I heard what the fine was. That is why I came into work to do more research. I didn't hear the caller, I just heard Elliott talking about it later in the show.

Gotcha - I thought that was confirmed.

But it wouldn't surprise me if they got off with a slap. We don't really punish our criminals in this country, or do anything to remove them from society. All we do is impose more laws on non-criminals.

This doesn't go far enough. Exterminate the parents and any remaining underage siblings as well. Put any adult siblings on notice. "We're watching you."

From SoMDMAMA's post

http://www.nbc4.com/news/12283929/detail.html

The two 16-year-olds were charged Monday night with reckless endangerment and second-degree burglary. Police said they broke into Victory Villa Elementary School and stole industrial-strength drain cleaner containing sulfuric acid.

So they'll get a slap and that's it. Teenagers don't do any kind of hard time for burglary and reckless endangerment.
