Sept 11th. Hubby's 52nd b'day. He doesn't want to celebrate it. His b'day is depressing for him since the events of 4 years ago. While we all mourn the tragedy and loss of life etc....... I try to convince him it's still a special day for us. For HIM.

I bought him a fishfinder for the boat, am making him his favorite desert-NY style cheesecake, sent him off golfing today (he wanted me to go play too but I bowed out) and we plan to do a stoney's (broomes island) run by boat tomorrow. But he's still in the dumps.............:ohwell:

Any suggestions for cheering up a great guy??????????? After all our years together, I just am stumped.......

TIA

Get another woman for the bedroom.....

Seriously, have a toast to the victims of 9/11. It's ok to be sad for them. Maybe a salute will make him feel better. :patriot:

My grandfather was buried on my father's birthday. My grandmother had forgotten this until we started to walk away from the gravesite. She turned to my father (her son) and said “happy birthday.” He said, “My birthday will never be the same.”

She turned to him and said “his death and your birthday will be a reminder that when life ends, life does goes on.”

:yeahthat: Remind him Suz that to change his world is what the terrorists wanted. The best way to honor those innocents and to spit in the eye of their murderers is to go forth and live fully.

I've tried that-he's a retired sr. chief also--so he is very much aware of that fact. :huggy: Thanks!

Your poor Dad!! :huggy: Wise words from his Mom!! Kind of like our saying every year when we add another, dread it etc... "Beats the alternatives"...

Several suggestions.

However, I dont' know you, and I don't know how offended you'd get if I made some of the suggestions that I came up with.

Most involve unorthodox stimulation techniques.
