Too many cars going off the road for unexplained reasons

Here we go again! When does it stop? Why can't people stay off their cell phones when the wheels are moving? Why do they think it is always the other person that gets in accidents and not them? Why doesn't the police crack down on cell phone use while driving? Oh wait a minute, not cell phone use? Drugged or drunk driving? Whatever it is, it is too much of it.


On Thursday, February 16, 2023, at approximately 12:05 p.m., police, fire and rescue personnel responded to Three Notch Road and North Sandgates Road in Mechanicsville, for the motor vehicle collision reported serious with vehicle on fire with entrapment.

Maryland State Police Helicopter Trooper 7 pre-launched to land at the Oakville Elementary School. St. Mary’s County Board of Education was made aware of situation.

Crews arrived on the scene to find a single vehicle off the roadway with one occupant severely trapped.

Volunteer Firefighters from Mechanicsville and Hollywood VFD extricated the victim in approximately 15 minutes.

Witnesses reported the vehicle flipped multiple times and a child was reported to possibly be in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Crews searched the nearby wood line, under the vehicle and surrounding area and found no other victims.

The adult female victim was flown to an area trauma center with serious injuries.

That's a good idea. Of course the State would never do it. But, a good idea nonetheless. At some point, the State has to get serious about distracted driving. So far, they don't appear to care at all in my opinion. In the right lane sitting at the light was a State Trooper. A lady was in the middle lane on her cell phone and knew the Trooper was sitting there. She ignored him. I was in the far left lane. Perhaps the Trooper only looked straight ahead the entire time.

But the cops can stay on the installed laptop and run over children? On the day that cellphones use was banned, encounter an unmarked trooper weaving on 235 trying to dial a cellphone.
