The guy's bright enough to write the poem, he's 36 (old enough to understand a few things), and then uses an all-too-close-to-reality analogy. If nothing else, I'd have been concerned about upsetting my professor by submitting it. He made a mistake. So did the professor, by over-reacting to it.
