Tooth Fairy/Santa/Easter Bunny

But wait, there's more...
DQ lost her first tooth about 2 weeks ago, and naturally, the tooth fairy dropped some cash and a DVD under her pillow. :diva:

But here we are, 2 weeks later, and some little punk ass (probably from some rich 'hood in Fredericksburg, MD :duh:) told her there was no such thing as the T.F. so now she's asking me, "Did you really put the money and DVD under my pillow? So-and-so at school said parents do that; not the tooth fairy."

I feel like she's kinda been cheated, having lost her first tooth so late that she's of the age where this kinda crap happens. Should I tell her the truth, or see if I can buy some time and hope she can still be a kid who dreams for a little bit longer?

I know the same crap is gonna come up here soon with Santa and the Easter Bunny. :frown:

My daughter wants to believe in these things, even though she's getting old enough to know otherwise. I would ask her what she wants to believe. Something like "Do you want it to be the tooth fairy?" Use her answer to figure out where to go next.

Just tell her that if she doesn't believe in the tooth fairy, the tooth fairy won't come.
It's true ain't it? Don't matter if the tooth fairy happens to be her mother or not.

And ... next time, go buy a tooth fairy costume in case she's awake...

I started to do that, but then I thought I'd better consult the panel of experts on here first. My gut is saying "tell her the truth" cuz I push "honesty" big time with her. But at the same time, I wanna keep my little girl ... my little girl. :frown:

She got $$ AND a DVD?? :burning:
Well, she didn't get $20 or anything ... I think I gave her $5 ... cuz all she does with money is hide it in her purses, toys, dresser drawers, etc., and the DVD was another $10 or $15.

If you like, you can punch out one of your teef and I'll put a treat under your pillow, too.

I guess the real question here is this: at what age did your kiddo's stop believing in the TF/SC/EB or did they find out and you confirmed it for them?

My cousin who will be 16 in February believed in Santa till he was about 14 (either that or he was seriously milking his parents ).

"Well, DQ, so-and-so is obviously not a very nice little boy and that's why the Tooth Fairy doesn't come to his house and his parents have to lie to him about it."

I don't remember when I realized the tooth fairy was fake. I'm sure it was just like Santa, and I learned at a very young age, but milked it for as long as I could.

You're obviously not a very nice little girl, either. Tooth Fairy still comes to our house. Ask Larry.

:yeahthat: So-and-so kid is just jealous that the tooth fairy (ect.) doesn't visit him.
