After reading a thread on Facebook, I'm quite shocked at how much people are paying their kids for losing teeth. A friend of mine posted that she left her kids $20 for their first lost tooth and $5 per tooth after that. Obviously, I've had to live on a budget but I cannot fathom the thought of leaving my kids that much for a tooth. A tooth, not any type of accomplishment. I leave mine $1 per tooth, never any more.

I try to...I mean the toof fairy tries to leave $1 in change (because It's easy for him to wash and dry change to make it germ free).

:yay:

We always left a handful of change and counted it with each kid. They learned to count money this way and they had a piggy bank where they collected their change. Once the piggy bank was full I taught them to count/roll coins which showed them how even change adds up over time. They were allowed to do what they wanted with the money they got once they turned their rolled change into bills at the bank.

I currently don't and never did give a flying frip as to what other people do/did.

The Tooth Fairy left $10 for the first one (and also when my youngest had a snaggle tooth that took forever to fall out because the Tooth Fairy was so happy when he finally lost it) and then $1 for the rest. But when my youngest lost a tooth in the pool and swallowed another one, he told the Tooth Fairy to not bother leaving him any money since he didn't have the tooth to show for it. The Tooth Fairy got busted when going through the kids' memory boxes and all the little treasure boxes filled with teeth were found.

youngest recently lost her first and second tooth on the same day. I gave her 2 $2 bills. I don't remember how much the older kids got, it's been too long.

When the boy was little he received 5.00 per tooth. As he got older and had less teeth to lose, he received 20.00 per tooth.

My son recently lost his first tooth, he got $20 for it but was told that was because it was special, the first one, & he didn't cry. He knows that the tooth fairy only usually will leave a $1 for anymore & seems fine with that explanation.

I thought $20 was average/low. I don't want him to be able to buy a bike with money from one tooth but want him to be able to buy more than a burger (until $15/hour min wage kicks in and that is now $5/menu) as well.

You thought $20 was average/low? What in the hell did he do to earn that $20?

Thats how them b*tch's R
I've given mine $1-$2 a tooth. They've been cool with it. I wasn't worried what they could or couldn't buy with the money.

I give them a $2 bill or a Sacagawea dollar coin. They also get them in their stockings from Santa.
