The National Weather Service Has Issued Tornado Watch 283 In Effect Until 3 Am Edt Friday For The Following Areas

In Maryland This Watch Includes 3 Counties

In Southern Maryland

Calvert Charles St. Marys

In Virginia This Watch Includes 3 Counties

In Central Virginia

King George Spotsylvania

In Northern Virginia

Stafford

In Virginia This Watch Includes 1 Independent City

In Central Virginia

City Of Fredericksburg

This Includes The Cities Of...chesapeake Beach...dahlgren... Falmouth...fredericksburg...spotsylvania Courthouse... St Marys And Waldorf.

Charlottesville is getting slammed. Tornado warning and major thunderstorm rolling through there.

Not to wish bad luck on everybody else, but I am hoping it all stays west of us. I don't like bad weather at night. Freaks me out.

OK, I'm about to ask a question that shows that I'm fairly new to the area, so forgive me if I sound naive. :shrug: It seems that we've been getting a decent amount of tornado watches lately (at least a lot more than I've ever heard of, which was basically none). Is it usually like this in the spring/summer down here? I've always lived on the east coast and just didn't think that tornados were all that common around here.

We get alot of watches, a few warnings. We have had our share of serious tornadoes come thru, a few by Waldorf/LaPlata, one about 2 years ago came thru Town Creek and over into Solomons.

Hmmm, good to know. Hopefully they stay away from us. Did you check on your parents yet?

Channel 5 (Fox) is showing the radar and talking about the storms...a few with rotation in Culpepper area and the storms are heading this way.

:yeahthat: this is not joke...lots of rotation popping up in No. Va... I'm worried about my folks in Dale City... It will eventually move over this way :ohwell:

Tornado Warning across the River in Stafford County, at 10:18pm Doppler Radar Indicated Tornado on the ground, moving Northeast!!! Charles County is northeast of Stafford
