Totalitarian '28th Amendment'

Moore’s proposed 28th Amendment, which he laughably signed, “The above constitutional amendment was written by Michael Moore of Michigan and presented to the 117th United States Congress on July 11, 2022,” reads like something out of Vladimir Putin’s Russia (or that “WW II guy” Democrats love to equate with Donald Trump), from beginning to end. Let’s check out a few excerpts:

XXVIII AMENDMENT
SECTION 1.
The inalienable right of a free people to be kept safe from gun violence and the fear thereof must not be infringed and shall be protected by the Congress and the States. This Amendment thus repeals and replaces the Second Amendment.
SECTION 2.
Congress shall create a mandatory system of firearm registration and licensing for the following limited purposes: (a) licensed hunters of game; (b) licensed ranges for the sport of target shooting; and (c) for the few who can demonstrate a special need for personal protection.
All who seek a firearm will undergo a strict vetting process with a thorough background check, including the written and confidential approval of family members, spouses and ex-spouses and/or partners and ex-partners, co-workers and neighbors. A mental health check will also be required. There will be a waiting period of one month to complete the full background check.
SECTION 3.
Those who meet all the requirements for the restricted gun owners groups and successfully pass the background check must take a firearms safety class and pass a written test on an annual basis.

Coupla questions, Mikey. (Most Mikes and Michaels loathe “Mikey.” Long story, but trust me, here.)

“The right of people to be kept safe from gun violence.” By whom? With self-defense all but made unconstitutional by your silly amendment proposal, you’re suggesting that more than 300 million Americans should rely only on police officers — the very people your equally silly comrades want to “defund”?

And hunters and recreational firearms enthusiasts must receive approval from not only family members and ex-family members, but from co-workers and neighbors, as well? Dude, have you even read the U.S. Constitution and/or any of its amendments? I highly doubt it.

Heres the best part...

for the few who can demonstrate a special need for personal protection.

And we just know who those will be. Celebrities, politicians, those with enough money to game the system.

I understand that I'm supposed to care what Michael Moore has to say, but I don't. He's irrelevant.

He should run for office. Campaign on a disarm platform. If the voters want that, then surely he will win. Then he can add 99 more amendments if he wants.

I wish some politician would run on a commit a crime with a gun and get the gas chamber platform. Want to see gun violence go down? Start by deleting those who are highly inclined to harm others with a gun. Then slowly add knives, bats and fists to the list of terminal weapons. After the first few candidates sit on ole sparky, the rest of the country will turn Minnesota nice overnight.

You can forget the death penalty for gun crimes.
First the people doing the gun crimes in our major cities are of the darker persuasion and as soon as we started executing them we would all be white supremacists killing off the knee grows.
Then look at the fact we have many people on death row now that will never be executed. It's a lot mor fun killing innocent babies than executing killers.
What good is a law calling for execution if we don't execute, If the law is to work it has to be done in a manner that is humane like an overdose of fentanyl. Certainly that is humane , people are begging for it every day and using it so it must be a good way to go. And it's cheap, every police evidence room has some of it laying around. Next it has to be within a year of the conviction. No laying around on my dime for 20 years and everyone has forgotten what the criminal has been convicted of.

Pipe dream is right, you need 67 Senators and 290 Representatives, or the Legislatures of 34 states just to propose an amendment.
THIS is where the left loses their chit and says the process is "undemocratic" because it requires such a high hurdle, and doesn't work with 50.01% of anything. To which I waste my breath and reply that "democratic" merely means that the PEOPLE decide, and not some monarch, dictator or oligarchy. I am deeply satisfied that the bar is set THAT high - it means it is not easily changed, and if it is, it requires a LOT of buy-in from everyone.
